"Awesome. Danny and his crew were great to work with. They planted a lovely dogwood, flowers for 5 clay pots, 5 hanging pots, 5 concrete vases, 2 concrete boxes, and a large wood planter. They transplanted a flowering bush I wanted to keep, cleaned out and raised the soil level of the wood box (size approx 6x8 feet) so the perennials and annuals could be seen. We discussed the colors I wanted, he shared photos of his suggestions, and made adjustments based on my feedback. My front, side and backyards now look wonderful! Next year I plan to work with him starting April and not August :-). I recommend them highly."

One of the most effective ways to improve lawn absorption is to learn how to aerate your lawn. This is a process where you poke tiny holes all throughout it to break up tough soil and sediment, creating pathways for sunlight, water, air, and nutrients to seep into the plant’s roots. Ideally, you’ll want to aerate your lawn at least once per year during the growing season—think late summer to early fall. 

Don’t pick up dirt after aerating. Even though it's tempting because soil cores are incredibly unsightly, these cores and the dirt they leave behind are ecologically important. This is what keeps your grass looking beautiful and growing healthily. The soil cores need two to three weeks to decompose, but you can swat them with a rake if their natural shape bothers you.

Aerate in the fall to relieve compaction and allow nutrients and water to better reach roots.

Make your ryegrass thicker by boosting soil health. Add organic matter, aerate the lawn if the soil is compacted, fertilize appropriately, and see if your lawn needs dethatching. Your local lawn care service can come and look at your lawn and provide specific advice and remedies for your lawn issues.
