Main reason for this is that I do not trust contractors and I feel there is the element of not getting the value for the money paid. Here's where Braz Masonry impressed me the most. Pool replastering is not something I would/could take on myself and therefore needed to get bids from different companies. Braz Masonry offered the best price and I decided to go with them, not only for the price but because I just got a good vibe from Roberto the owner. I was a little worried because I thought that, because of the lower quote, I would get hit with hidden extras to make up for the underbid estimate. The opposite actually happened. There was an unforeseen issue with my coping and there was an opportunity for him to make some extra money as I was already well into the project. "Last year I moved into a new house with a pool that was neglected by the previous homeowner and it needed a major facelift. As a first time pool owner and knowing nothing about pools, the task seemed overwhelming. So I started calling various pool companies - about 15 in total - to get an opinion and an estimate. About half the companies would either not show up or come by look at the pool and then never get back to me with pricing. The others were either outrageously overpriced or there was something I didn’t like about the company for one reason or another. Then I was referred to Pugliese pool services by the company that did our pool inspection. I called Pugliese and spoke to Alex on a Friday afternoon and he stopped by the next morning. I explained that I basically knew nothing about pools so he sat with me for about 2 hours discussing the pool, the pool equipment and showed me how everything works. He then started to give my options on how to proceed with its renovation, something that none of the other pool companies did. Alex then came back a week later to meet with me and my wife, bringing samples of coping stones, tiles and color chips for the new plaster surface. Once aging he was with us for about two hours going over everything to the finest detail. After Alex left that day I remember turning to my wife and saying I hope his price would be reasonable because I really liked him – he seemed like a straight shooter, he seemed honest, fair and very knowledgeable and passionate about pools. My wife said she had the exact same feeling. There was something about him that really clicked with us. Anyway we received Alex’s proposal about a week later and it was quite fair and reasonable. So I checked his references and did my due diligence on him and his company and I felt really good about hiring him. And I am so happy we did. Alex and his guys were amazing; they were neat, respectful, and true craftsman. They went above and beyond the original scope of work and my pool looks amazing. Alex was there with us every step of the way – even consulting on the landscaping. The pool is up and running now and I know if I ever have any questions or concerns Alex is always a text message or phone call away. Alex is now not only “my pool guy” but he is a good friend."
