"A and Z did wallpaper in my daughters room and did an amazing job. They were available the next day after I contacted them, brought all their own materials, and finished the job in under an hour. The wallpaper looks absolutely gorgeous you can’t see any seams and everything is beautiful!"

"I hired GJK to install vinyl peel and stick wallpaper in my kitchen, including the ceiling. They first sent their spackling/painting team to prep the walls - they were wonderful and cleaned up so well. Then GJK came on the weekend to do the installation. It was a pleasure to see a husband and wife team work so well together and they did a magnificent job and cleaned up completely when done. I found a few bubbles and called Greg to let him know. Both Greg and his wife, Janet, were here Monday morning to fix them all and explained that the glue had not dried yet but he made them all go away and I could not be happier with them and their work. If you need wallpaper hung please call GJK Consulting - you will not be disappointed at all! I would rate them 100 stars if it was possible."

"You can't do better, in my opinion. Price is reasonable and quality of work is very high. They took care of wallpaper removal, popcorn ceiling removal, drywall repair and painted my entire place. Howard and his team are extremely reliable, detailed, thorough and clean. He doesn't overcharge and did an amazing job removing the popcorn ceilings from my entire place - which has sloped, high and angled ceilings with various cuts - and his estimate for that portion of the work was much lower than anyone else's."

"Star painting power washed and painted the whole exterior of our house 5 years ago. It has held up extremely well. We had some damage recently and called them to repair it. They were incredibly responsive & completed all the work going above and beyond in honoring our warranty on the work. Often times one is disappointed that people don't stand behind their work, but Star painting did - 5 years later - and even when the damage was not related to their work. I recommend them fully to anyone looking for quality work, and professionalism with customers. The cost of service quoted in this review is the original cost - they did not charge us for the recent repairs which was incredible!"

"I was hosting Christmas Dinner at my house this year, and was running a tight schedule. I needed my kitchen's wallpaper removed and paint redone asap as it was getting old, peeling and fading. I organized a price and a time with Tim and Charlene, and they handled everything perfectly. They came a tad early, finished everything we needed to, stuck to the agreed price, and gave some extra maintenance and style advice! They were dutiful and professional, and I constantly felt like they wanted this to go well for me. Absolutely going to call them next time I need a room painted."

"

John and crew were just terrific!  They put down a bead of special caulk to keep water from trickling into the basement.  The crew came promptly, spent several hours cleaning and preparing the surfaces and putting down the caulk.  They cleaned up nicely before they left.  John felt that the caulk was just a temporary solution since the slanted porch causes a puddle of water to soak up against the house's cedar shakes.  He refused to give us a bill for the time he spent here because he didn't think the fix was permanent.  We will ask him to replace the porch when the weather gets warmer.  We're thrilled to have such a caring and competent contractor!

"John and his crew did a wonderful job painting the exterior of my home. We also had the deck redone as well. We had a lot of peeling paint on our house as well as a ton of mildew growing on the north side of our home. They used a professional solution to kill the mildew and assured me the chemicals would not harm any vegetation. Which it did not. They started by power washing my home to remove surface dirt and grime. They did the nessesary prep work and gave our home one coat of primer and two coats of paint. Outstanding Results! Our deck was sun beaten and worn. Had a few loose boards and popped nails. Being the handy team they have come to prove to be they had no problems fixing and repairing all my request. John being very knowledgeable recommended we use a solid color stain to help hide the weather beaten imperfections. GREAT ADVICE! I would have never thought of it. The deck almost looks new. And with the repairs it's blends the new wood with old quit nicely. Getting to know John the days him and his crew spent working on my home I asked him to give me quote on changing the wall paper in my home office. He explained to me the downfalls of wallpaper removal. And how it all depends on the person who installed the paper. If it was properly done it would not effect the estimate given. But if the wallpaper was NOT installed properly a reassessment of the job would have to be discussed. Turns out it was NOT installed properly and was actually damaging the walls upon removal. John being professional that he is assured me he would keep the cost as low as possible. In which he did. Instead of replacing the sheet rock. They skim coated the walls sanded them to perfection and painted them perfectly. SO GLAD I FOUND THESE GUYS!!!"

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

Using a fabric softener solution is a popular and low-cost DIY method for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited. While it may work on some types of wallpaper, it is unlikely to be successful on vintage styles, and there is no evidence that it is more effective than other removal methods. There are also several potential downsides: the solution can leave behind a residue that may damage your walls or interfere with the adhesion of new wallpaper. Additionally, this method can create a strong, overpowering aroma that takes a long time to dissipate, making it a poor choice for homeowners sensitive to smells.

The simple nature of peel and stick wallpaper means it should come off much more easily than traditional wallpaper that is glued to your walls. You’ll still want to work slowly and carefully to avoid tearing it, but most peel and stick wallpaper should come off without a chemical agent to loosen it.

Limewash can be removed from brick, but the method of removal will depend on how long the limewash has been on the brick. If the limewash has fully dried—which happens after about five days—you’ll need to use a diluted muriatic acid mixture to remove it. If there are multiple coats of limewash, you may need to apply the acid mixture several times to fully remove it from the brick.

Many peel-and-stick wallpapers aren’t moisture-resistant, so if you install them in high-humidity rooms, mold can grow behind the wallpaper. It’s best to reserve peel-and-stick wallpaper for bedrooms, living rooms, and other rooms with lower humidity levels. Not only does this minimize the risk of mold growth, but it also keeps the wallpaper from bubbling or peeling.

You’ll need to wash the walls to remove wallpaper adhesive residue after removal as part of the prep process for painting or rehanging wallpaper. Old adhesive can cause texture issues and prevent paint or wallpaper from adhering properly to the wall’s surface.
