"They did a fine job, but they did have some communication issues. They did not always let us know when they were coming. They did not complete the job quickly, either, as the project stretched out longer than expected. They were very friendly and accomidating, however. I would consider calling them for future work."

"Everything went great! Ronda has an excellent eye for design, listened to our ideas and needs, and provided her own ideas that we didn't even think of. She also took us granite and tile shopping. She created a few layouts for us to choose from, and she worked with us to figure out which one worked best for us. We used her contractor, Steve, and his crew, who did a great job as well. This was our first remodel, and we were a little nervous about it, but they let us know how they were doing the whole way through. The end result is gorgeous! We were so pleased with Ronda that we plan on using her again for a bathroom remodel!"

"Hunt General Contracting installed my attic in a single day, after some of the other contractors I had asked had given me estimates of "1 week" and "we don't work weekends". ONE day, and for a great price as well-- lower than any of the competitors. The workers were all courteous and definitely knew what they were doing. When I asked "could we do this or this" they gave honest and knowledgeable answers. I'd definitely recommend this contractor again.

"The job went very well and we love how are bathroom has been transformed. Bob made multiple visits to consult on the tile choices and ensure they were prepared for the project. Phil (tile guy) was a true craftsman and took his time to ensure the work was perfect. We wish the same care was taken by all contractors.

"Rich and his helper Carlos remodeled my late-1950s bathroom in the spring of 2018. The sink, toilet and shower were all removed and replaced. Wall tile was replaced with contemporary materials, and ceramic panel flooring was installed. It was a project that I had put off for many years out of concern for finding a satisfactory contractor. After having found Rich on Angie's list, he came to my home to provide an estimate. After speaking to him for a few minutes, I was confident that he would provide the quality job I desired. I cannot imagine having found a better team to renovate my bathroom, They were conscientious, detail-oriented, courteous, professional, and earned my trust from the first day. The quality of their work was superb and they communicated with me any changes or challenges that they encountered. I was so delighted and satisfied, that I decided to have them also renovate my kitchen."

"Merryfield Construction Group was absolutely amazing!  I called them to get an estimate and they came out the same day.  They gave me a great price.  They provided the service in a timely manner.  They were professional and were there to answer all questions throughout the job.  I felt like they truly cared !  I was very impressed with the performance of the job.  Merryfield Construction was by far the best contractor I have ever used!! I would definitely use them in the future and I will have no problem referring to them to family and friends! I couldn't be a happier customer!!

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

If the bowing basement wall is less than 2 inches, steel or carbon fiber straps are the best solution. For bowing that is more than 2 inches, wall anchors are the most effective. A contractor can help you decide the best method of repair for your home's foundation and also address the root cause of the trouble.

Your local building code will list all the framing requirements for whatever type of structure you're building. Most exterior walls require spacing of 16 inches on-center, while many non-load-bearing interior walls only require 24 inches of spacing. However, there are also varying requirements depending on your construction material, so checking your municipality's rules is essential.

Most Cape Cod houses are two stories tall at the peak, although they’re considered one-and-a-half stories tall because the steep roof pitch cuts off a portion of the living space on the second story. Unless you raise the roof on your Cape Cod house to add a dormer, the interior rooms upstairs will lose some usable living space to the sloped ceilings.

It's possible to turn your carport into a living space, but there are additional factors to address over turning it into a garage. HVAC, plumbing, and electricity won't be optional, and you'll need finished flooring, drywall, trim work, and legal ceiling height, for starters. Also, keep in mind that living space conversions may require upgrading the foundation underneath, and the permits might be more expensive as well.

New builds, remodels, and additions often necessitate professional framing expertise.
