Call us old fashioned if you want, because that’s exactly what we are when it comes to refinishing your floors. Any job we do, we do it right, meaning we’re not done until the customer is 100% satisfied. That’s how business used to be conducted all the time, and it’s a fading tradition that we never lose sight of. So call us old fashioned, we take pride in it. You’ll love the brand-new look of your house that our hardwood finishing will bring. And you’ll also certainly love how we do it without turning your home into the dust pile that most refinishing systems create. Our state of the art containment system sucks up the dust and shoots it out of the house through a three inch vacuum hose directly into our collection containers. And we offer odorless and environmentally friendly finishes. Doctor Dustless, with over 20 years of hardwood experience, promises you a job done right, cleanly and with minimal disruption. From your first contact with Emil, the owner, to the estimate, all the way to the finished project you will be communicating with him directly. We take pride in standing behind all our work, so you’ll take pride in standing on it.
"First-time home owners. Good experience with Doctor Dustless. They had a competitive price per sq ft. We briefly entertained a competing bid that was a bit lower but that contractor seemed relutant to provide things (like an itemized estimate) in writing. We made the right choice. The floors were under old carpet for 27 years. There were some areas of staining from spills that sat in the carpet and dog urine stains in a few places. All TV coaxial cables were run through holes that were drilled through the floor in each room. Doctor Dustless sanded everything, plugged up the holes and stained the floors a dark walnut and finished with a satin sheen Bona HD traffic. They look like newly installed floors. We are happy with the service and the result and I would use them again."

Design For Living Contracting is a privately owned company that is run primarily by owner Benjamin Maltzman. The employees of DFLC have been working together for a number of years, and have a healthy and close relationship with the owner. DFLC does not sub-contract jobs to any contractor, for we actually avoid sub-contracting at all costs. DFLC does "sub" out a small portion of its contracts to only two other companies, one of which is an active angle's list contractor with service awards since 2010, and the other who is backed by major companies like Lowes home improvement. Both companies have worked very closely with DFLC, and have provided only quality work in association with our company. DFLC accepts all cash, check, and money order payments. Specifics on billing details are stated in contracts, and are dependent upon job size, budget and deadline.
"Design for Living Construction was outstanding! Their work is excellent! They were very transparent and they finished on time. I would hire them again in a heartbeat! Ben was great to work with!"

"It looked like new after they weaved in the pieces of wood, and then they sanded it down to a blonde color, and stained it a light walnut... We went with the satin finish because I think floors look terrible with high glass, and it looks absolutely brand new... The guys were amazing to work with.... And yes if I do the upstairs bedrooms with the hardwood floors, I am definitely calling them back. I'm teetering with the fact of putting carpet upstairs in the bedrooms but we'll see if I keep the hardwood, the floors are not in great shape look wise, so in the event I don't carpet...I'm 100% calling them back ... they were very reasonable with their pricing as well, and they were on time.... And finished in a very timely fashion...they were also very helpful moving stuff around for us....."

When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.
Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
There are several countertop options available to fit your lifestyle and needs.
Granite countertops are durable and come in a variety of colors.
Soapstone countertops are prone to scratches and best in smaller kitchens.
Marble countertops are less durable than granite but a good option for busy kitchens.
Slate countertops are stain-resistant, making them easy to clean.
Limestone countertops must be sealed often to prevent scratches.
Acrylic countertops cost less than granite while still providing durability.
Laminate countertops are the most affordable but chip and fade faster.
Wood countertops need monthly sealing to maintain.
The cost to install countertops is $3,105 on average. This project cost can range from $400 to $8,500, depending on the material, edging, and countertop size.
Laminate countertops are generally the most cost-efficient, ranging from $8 to $27 per square foot. On the other hand, slate countertops are considered more luxurious and range from $30 to $90 per square foot. There are also countertop materials priced between those two, including stainless steel, granite, Corian, and wood.
