"I was suffering from repeated high water alarms in my septic tank. The company knew the issue with my septic system on the phone from experience of similar problems it was blocked laterals of the leach field. They were able to fix the problem for a reasonable cost in a day all compliant with the township. They were 5 times cheaper than another company suggested for the repair. They were able to jet the laterals whereas the other company quoted to replace the entire leachfield laterals. Would recommend any one with problems with pressurized septic system to contact this company first."

"This is a grade A , top notch company. We had to replace the septic system in our house. I got many quotes for the job, some companies shyed away or didn't think they could handle it. Scott came in, we went over the design, and he tackled it with ease. Each day his crew started early, around 7am, was always on-time. They were the friendliest team, and explained what needed to be done each step of the way. They have the industrial tools, but they use them with incredible dexterity, as if it was an extension of their hands. The grading and seeding were all done and it is better than ever. I hope you never have to replace your septic system, but if you do, call J. Tomaro to do it. Excellent job guys. Thanks."

"This Company is by far the Best septic service company I have ever dealt with. Susan responded to my call and she was friendly, helpful and accommodating considering I needed the pump out taken care of on the same day, a Saturday. She understood my urgency and made it happen. The gentleman that performed the pump out was excellent. Friendly, polite, professional, and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the work he had to do. I highly recommend everyone contacting Atlantic & Sewe, Inc. for your septic needs."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Ideally, you should conduct a mechanical inspection and a bacterial or well water inspection yearly. While you might be able to push it off to every other year, it’s best to have peace of mind, especially when it comes to something that you use so frequently.

If you experience repeated gastrointestinal illness in the household, it's important to test the well water more regularly for quality and cleanliness to check for bacteria.

Getting well water tested costs $100 to $350 if done by a pro. You can also buy DIY test kits for $20 to $100, but professional tests are more reliable. You can get a comprehensive well inspection, which includes advanced water testing, for $700 to $750, which you should do yearly anyway.

Yes. A metal detector is one of the quickest and easiest ways to find your septic tank. However, metal detectors can be too expensive (costing upward of $300 in some cases), and not everyone has a metal detector just lying around. If that’s the case for you, you can also take a long metal rod and poke it into the ground at regular intervals until you hit something—likely your septic tank lid.

Septic tank lids may or may not be buried in a yard. Most lids are buried at least 4 inches deep unless you have an aerobic septic system. Aerobic septic systems need frequent cleanings, about every four months, so it’s best to leave these lids aboveground for easier access. For buried lids, homeowners can use risers that make it easier to locate and access a buried septic tank lid.

Trenches are typically 12 to 24 inches deep and 8 inches wide. However, the required depth depends on the specific project and local ordinances. For example, a French drain may need to be 18 inches deep, while a water pipe might require a depth of 24 inches and a drainage pipe 36 inches. Your city or county may have specific regulations, so it's wise to consult with an excavation professional to determine the correct depth for your project.
