The new tile is mounted on cement board that was coated with an expandable sealer. (the 30 year old tile was just installed on drywall). A laser was used to insure tile grout lines would be perfectly aligned. William also removed grout from existing floor tile I had put in two years ago and installed matching grout of new wall tiles- the floor looks brand new now! All work professionally done for a beautiful installation. And W Floorings subcontractor measured and installed a new stylish glass shower door. I’m am handicapped and I was so impressed how William insured that the new shower will work and be accessible for me."

Porcelain and ceramic tiles are made from clay, but porcelain tiles are fired in a kiln at a higher temperature. This makes them more durable, but it also means porcelain is more expensive than ceramic at $3 to $5 more per square foot.

If penny tile is in a humid or high-traffic area, like a bathroom, kitchen, or entryway, it needs sealant. The difference between floor and wall tiles is that floor tiles generally have higher strength and porosity ratings than wall tiles. Wall tiles are typically weaker and more likely to crack or become damaged under sustained pressure like high foot traffic. 

For this reason, avoid using wall tiles on floors and vice versa.

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks.
