"Removal of 6 shade trees was done professionally, on schedule, and importantly with no property damage. They followed all of the rules including having insurance and having me get a permit which my township needed. Only improvement could be communications. I would definitely use them again."

"I am very happy with the service provided by CC Tree Experts. They will be the first company I call for this service from now on. 1) Responsive. They were the first ones out with a quote (within a day). My prior service took a week to get a guy out. 2) Fair. Of the quotes I got, they had a fair price.. no over charging. 3) Efficient. On the day of, they were running by 8 am with all vehicles and tools. They were basically done by 11:30. 4) Safe. I watched them slice and dice a tall old tree with control and precision. 5) Clean. The tree and area was chocked with overgrowth and vines. They navigated it all and left the ground clean and debris free. It did take 3 weeks to get work started. I blame that on their high demand. Book early."

"We had a fantastic experience with Padilla Tree Service. We inquired about a quote for the work we needed done and they were out on location within a few days to scope the work. They were very reasonable with price and could quickly tackle the job. Very professional, quick, tidy, and took the time to leave the place unscathed of any leftover debris, trash, or excess leaves. Will absolutely hire them again for any future work our facility needs."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Most jobs take 2-8 hours, but extensive trimming may take multiple days.

The cost of trees varies massively based on the size of the tree and the species. A small Colorado spruce can cost as little as $30, but a golden rain tree of the same size can cost $90. Large trees can cost $1,500 or more, depending on their species and height.

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit.

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.

Pruning trees during the summer can be a bad idea because the new growth will take place during the hottest months of the year, which can stress your tree out. Similarly, pruning during the early fall can be a bad idea, too, because you’d be stimulating new growth when most trees are aiming to go dormant.

Pruning recommendations will vary by the type of tree, but generally, waiting until winter to prune your trees is a good idea.

In most cases, you should not use a pruning seal on trees after trimming. Applying a sealant can interfere with the tree's natural healing process, and it does not guarantee protection from pathogens. Instead of sealing the cut, the best practice is to support the tree's natural recovery by providing it with plenty of water and a dormant-style fertilizer. However, there are exceptions. Pruning seals may be recommended for very vulnerable species, like elm trees, in areas where dangerous diseases such as Dutch elm disease are prevalent. In these specific situations, the protection offered by a sealant can outweigh its downsides. For advice tailored to your situation, especially after cutting large branches, it is best to consult a local tree trimming professional.
