"I would highly recommend Procrete. They are a hard working family business. They were efficient and pleasant to deal with. The work was high quality for a reasonable price. The start date changed a few times due to weather conditions but they called and updated me each time and were there when they said. I'm one of those people that usually finds something wrong with everything, but can't say enough about The great experience we had and the awesome patio I have. Thanks Procrete"

"I hired Aztec for major repairs due to termite damage. They were prompt, professional, and easy to work with. They came in less than 10 days after we contacted them to FINISH the work. First, they evaluated the damage and walked me through the needed repairs which included placing three new steel support beams along with two main horizontal wood beams and several sistered beams. They were able to complete the work, once they started, in three days. At each step, I was informed of progress and there were no surprises (from my end). The work included everything from removing electrical wiring and then replacing it, pouring the new steel vertical support beams, affixing them solidly into my concrete floor, and then pacing the numerous horizontal beams. I could not recommend AZtec (and Greg!) more."

"The actual project was to cut a drain into my patio to allow for the water to drain off to a sump tank and pumped to the front of the house. The patio floods during heavy rain and last month, the water came into the house and ruined 3 floors. They did this job and my master bedroom tile job at the same time. They are the kind of people who you can trust in your home when you are at work. I can't recommend them highly enough. Quality of work, attention to detail, promptness, value. Joe stayed in constant contact throughout the job."

"Fred and the crew got the job going quickly, and work they did. We had slate stamped with darker boarders and it came out magnificently, better than we thought. We get lots of compliments and slow drive byes."

"I was very pleased with Larry and his team at Brickscapes. They arrived on time and did a professional landscaping job on my new bushes and plants and mulch and cleanup. They were very accommodating when I needed a temporary watering system too. Excellent work."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

The longevity of masonry work depends entirely on proper material selection and moisture management. New Jersey coastal environments subject foundations to relentless salt air, high humidity, and unstable sandy soil. Ensure your contractor uses marine-grade sealants and designs adequate drainage for the shallow water table. Committing to a regular repointing schedule prevents storm surges and freeze-thaw cycles from destroying your mortar joints over time.

Helpful?

The best time for masonry work in New Jersey is late spring through early fall. Mortar and concrete require temperatures consistently above 40 degrees to cure properly. Winter freeze-thaw cycles cause severe cracking and structural failure in freshly laid materials. While summer offers ideal temperatures, coastal humidity and hurricane season storms require careful planning. Schedule your project during warmer months to ensure strong, long-lasting results.

Helpful?

When hiring for masonry work, look for local professionals with proven experience in coastal environments. Your contractor must hold state registration and carry liability insurance and workers' compensation. Because Brigantine sits in a flood zone, prioritize specialists who understand FEMA elevation requirements and coastal regulations. A qualified expert ensures your structural repairs withstand salt air, storm surges, and strict local building inspections.

Helpful?

Keep your family and pets safe by setting up temporary fencing around the work zone. Brigantine features sandy soil and elevated foundations, making open excavations and raised platforms serious fall hazards. Coastal winds easily spread harmful silica dust and debris, so keep everyone indoors during active cutting. Require your contractors to follow state safety standards and secure the site completely at the end of each day.

Helpful?

Repairing existing structures is highly economical when the underlying foundation remains sound. Coastal salt air causes continuous mortar deterioration, making regular repointing an excellent maintenance strategy. However, you must replace the structure if years of freeze-thaw cycles cause severe damage. Full replacement is also required when older Brigantine properties need upgrades to meet current flood zone elevation requirements and maintain flood insurance eligibility.
