"These 2 guys were great very professional and kind. They came out and gave an honest quote of what work they thought they thiugh should be done. Of the 4 contractors i had come out to quote me only they actually got on the roof for the quote. They did the job in a day and my chimney both looks great and also no longer has a leak and also has a nice liner to protect my family. The pricing seemed very good and i would highly recommend these giys for any job like this."

"Gothic completed multi-faceted work including removal of chimney, replace framing and roofing along with building a new gas fireplace bump out where the old chimney was. After removal and disposal of the old brick and block chimney Gothic replaced water damaged structural members, replaced sheathing on both the wall and roof and framed and sheathed a new gas fireplace insert bump out. Gothic resided the new bump out matching the old vinyl siding perfectly, installed asphalt shingles on the repaired roof section, again matching the old work perfectly. All work was permitted and passed inspection with no issues, and they removed all the construction debris and cleaned the area such that I had no cleanup to do. I will be hiring them again for future work."

"We were hoping to upgrade our fireplace to gas only and upgrade the look but knew we needed a chimney inspection and sweep first. We had another company come out and they quoted us an astronomical price in order to get the chimney in working condition and said they could not even do a sweep unless we did the work that was quoted. We found Select Masonry Construction LLC on Angi Leads. Called that morning and asked a few questions and was able to make an appointment for that afternoon. Gary and his brother  came and went over what needed to be done to get the chimney in working order and was also able to provide a catalogue so we could pick out finishing pieces. Gary was extremely honest and straightforward and prices were very reasonable. It took a week to get the items in stock and installed. We were shocked at how clean and expeditiously the work (including chimney sweep) was performed. The final product is amazing! We will certainly be recommending Select Masonry Construction to our friends. Thank you!"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Fireplace service in Brick reveals hidden damage from coastal salt air and moisture, requiring extensive flashing or firebox repairs. Older homes need full chimney liner replacements when cracked clay tiles appear during inspections. Upgrading gas lines to meet NJ code standards adds expense. You must also account for township permit fees, post-storm structural repairs, and wildlife removal when animals nest inside uncapped chimneys.

Helpful?

Watch for white staining or crumbling brick on your chimney exterior, indicating water penetration from failed prior masonry work. Smoke entering your home points to an improperly sized liner for coastal wind patterns. Rust streaks around flashing highlight inadequate materials. Any gas odors after prior insert work pose a serious safety hazard requiring immediate correction by a licensed professional in New Jersey.

Helpful?

Proper fireplace service provides reliable supplemental heat during cold, damp winters in Brick. A well-sealed chimney prevents cold downdrafts and coastal moisture from entering your living space, improving indoor air quality. Maintaining your fireplace ensures a safe, non-electric heat source during winter storm power outages. Documented service also guarantees compliance with NJ carbon monoxide safety laws and boosts your property value in the local market.

Helpful?

When planning fireplace service, choose a specialized professional based on your specific needs. Certified chimney specialists handle sweeping and standard maintenance. HVAC contractors work on gas inserts and direct-vent systems. You must hire a licensed plumber for any gas line connections in NJ. Masonry contractors manage brick repointing and firebox repairs, while general contractors oversee structural or cosmetic surround updates in Brick homes.

Helpful?

After completing fireplace service, verify that carbon monoxide and smoke detectors function properly to meet New Jersey safety laws. Install a protective barrier screen over hot gas fireplace glass to prevent contact burns. Confirm your hearth extensions meet local clearance codes to protect young children. Add a spark arrestor to your chimney cap to prevent yard fires and keep wildlife out of your Brick home.
