Contacted Pyramid L.L.C. (Shawn) for quote. Very personable guy - super easy to talk with. He swung by my house while I was at work and did an initial measure. Provided me with a detailed email quote including description of expected work/warranties/license, and follow-up phone conversation the next day. I had a couple of other quotes done, but Pyramid had the better price and good Angie's list rating, so worked with Pyramid. Chose color of shingles and Shawn lined up his crew and let me know when he might start... really good at keeping me updated. Dumpster and materials were dropped off at my home 2 days before the crew arrived. Crew arrived by 8AM and immediately started. Pete and his guys (5 total) were as personable as Shawn and let me know everything they planned on doing that day. They were very cognizant of all my wife's plants on the deck and around the house.... more so than I usually am. They really made the extended effort to protect what they could with tarps, etc. These guys works their butts off in some of the hottest weather of the year - I do not envy them. All were extremely polite and represented their company well. Hat's off to this particular crew! As expected, I had some underlying rot/water issues that added to material and labor costs and added one more day of work for the crew. As they pulled off the layer of shingles, I was able to personally check out their concerns and Pete detailed what he would need to do to correct it. I did see it coming, so had them make it right. Additional cost for the work done was fair as far as I was concerned. Bottom line - repairs and roof was completed in 2 days. Looks great and a lifetime warranty that is transferable if I sell. Experience was all positive. Highly recommend Pyramid Roofing L.L.C.!

His quote was $800.00. When I asked how much to re-pipe the entire house and also replace the service pipe, the cost was $1800.00 for everything, with a 3% charge for using a credit card for payment, making the total $1,854.00. I agreed & had to wait one week for him to start the job. A week later, he & his crew came at 8:30 a.m. and I asked for a written description of work to be done. We had discussed 3/4" Pex from meter to water heater, a 3/4" main hot from water heater with 1/2" Pex to all fixtures. We had also discussed the possibility that the main service may have already been replaced and would not be necessary to replace. Morris was to inspect the service pipe to determine if it was galvanized. I wanted all this in writing.
Anthony agreed to put everything in writing. I asked him if he pulled a permit for the work and he said he didn't know that I wanted a permit. He said if I wanted a permit it would cost me an extra $40.00. I told him that I thought permits were required for a re-pipe but if they were not required then that's fine. He said in Decatur he didn't need a permit except for new construction.
When I received his estimate, it said all work was warrantied for 90 days. I told him industry standard was one year. That's when he told his guys to stop digging. I asked if he could give me a one year warranty. No. How about 180 days? No. I told him that Roto Rooter and all other plumbers had quoted a one year warranty. He said for me to call Roto Rooter then. I told him that every other quote I received had a one year warranty. He said, "Well, call them." I told him I'd already spent 2 weeks getting quotes & then had waited a week on him so I needed to get this done today. I'd go ahead and take the 90 days warranty but I would get the work inspected afterwards. That's the FIRST time he tried to run away. He said he didn't want an unhappy customer and he should just leave. I was incredulous. I said, "I'm not unhappy. I just want to get an inspection since your work is only guaranteed for 90 days." He agreed to stay & do the work and they started back up.
Next. we discovered the water service pipe had already been replaced with PVC. I ask how much for work without a new $800.00 service pipe? The answer: $1600.00, only $200.00 off. I reminded him of his quote for the service pipe was $800.00. "Can you come down to $1400.00?" No. "How about $1500.00?" No. "Okay, I'll pay the $1600.00. I really need to get this done today." That's when Anthony decided to run away for real. He told me they were leaving because I was "unhappy." I was incredulous because I'd agreed to the $1600.00. He said he was leaving anyway. I told him he must have a lot of work to turn down a $1600.00 job. He said they do have a lot of work and left. He totally wasted a week of my time. Good thing he didn't get a chance to waste my money too.
I think the REAL reason Morris wanted to leave is because A PERMIT FOR RE-PIPE IS REQUIRED. He knew I was going to get his work inspected when I found out he only offered a 90 day warranty. That would alert the City that he was working in Huntsville without pulling permits. I know a permit is required because I called both the Huntsville AND Decatur Inspection Departments. Decatur has a "Sub-Trades Permit" and for my job, the fee would have been $40.00. The lady knew Anthony Morris & I told her he said he does not get permits in Decatur except for new construction. She said, "Anthony knows better," & would have the plumbing inspector call him to discuss. Huntsville verified a permit was required for this job.
In addition to getting a permit, if you hire a plumber, CHECK THEIR LICENSE with the state. You want them to have a Master Plumber (MP) on-board. Ask them the name of the MP and who will do the work. If the MP won't personally do the work, ask for the names of the people who will do the actual work. Then get on the Alabama website listed below to check their licenses (they're all listed by name). Also, call the City to determine any permits needed. The permit cost should be part of the quote for the work. Also ask to see their insurance papers.
Here are the numbers & web addresses for Inspection & licenses.
This cost me a week of useless waiting for nothing. I had no idea Morris would not pull a permit. So I am going to call Roto Rooter. In fact I already have. The one positive in all this is Anthony Morris does have a current MP license. However, I knew that before he came out. I guess he's just too lazy or cheap to get a permit. We chose Drew's because of their knowledge, experience, and reasonable price. While we were pleased with the materials and with the crew that showed up to do the work, we were quite displeased at the communications with this company. While we were told by the sales guy that the product warranty warranty was transferrable, only in reading the fine print did we realize the limits to the transferability. While we ahd understood that Mr. Drew would be onsite for the installations, he wasn't. The only time we saw him was when he came to take the final measurements. Fortunately the crew he sent seemed knowledgable and pleasant, and we were generally pleased with their work. When the promised schedule fell behind a month, we clearly listed the dates that would not work for them to be at our house in their revised timeframe, and yet they ignored that information. Rather, they called us to tell us they were already on their way to install our roof the very day we were leaving for vacation. It took some persistence on our part in insisting that they reschedule, rather than have contractors working on our home while we would be absent. Then they did it to us again, calling us several days later to tell us they were already on their way, forcing us to scramble to get away from work to make our home accessible. Surely they know at least the afternoon before, if not a day or more before, approximately when they will be finishing one job and moving on to another. It's only courtesy to give the homeowner more than an hour's notice that you are on your way, when you're already a month outside of the initial agreed-upon work window. If they changed their communication policies and gave homeowners more notice of their pending schedule, we would change this review from and quot;not recommendand quot; to and quot;recommendand quot;. Fortunately a phone call to the owner stopped that immediately. Then, we came to find out they sold us a product (electric heating mats) that they had never installed before. They finally called out an electrician to work on it - who then proceeded to ignore the installation instructions. Then the tile installer proceeded to install broken tiles, \"fixing\" them by grouting the cracks. Given all that we observed, we requested a written copy of their warranty for our records, which they took 6 weeks to provide. "It took a lot of phone tag to finally get the technician to our house, but once here he was efficient and professional and did an amazing job. The chip was in the edge of a white quartz countertop, very difficult to match perfectly, and the repair is absolutely invisible. Not the lowest bid, but worth the price."

FAQs for home warranty projects in Nottingham, NH
Many benefits come with buying a home warranty when selling your home, but there are drawbacks to consider, too.
Pros
Peace of mind of home repair coverage
Incentive for buyers
Transferability to new owners
Prevent post-sale issues
Cons
Expensive cost
Exclusions of certain features or appliances
Coverage limits
Often difficult to understand
Potential wait for claim service
On average, a home warranty costs about $1,100, ranging from $80 to $8,300, depending on your home size and its features, type of home warranty plan, and the coverage included. Your home’s location also factors into the cost of a home warranty, with areas with a higher cost of living experiencing increased warranty costs.
Additional cost to consider include:
Deductibles: $75–$125 per call
Add-ons: $2–$35 per month
Premiums: $200–$1,200 per year
Several factors make a home warranty worth it or not, especially the age of your home and the condition and age of the appliances in it. If you buy an older home with most or all original appliances, a warranty may be worth the investment as these home features are more likely to need repairs or replacements. However, if you’re buying a new-construction home, a warranty may already be included, and you may not need to use it for several years. In this case, purchasing add-ons may not be worth the cost until a few years later.
Offering a home warranty when selling can make your property more appealing to potential buyers. The warranty gives them peace of mind that many systems or appliances will be covered if they need to be repaired or replaced in the near future. Additionally, the home warranty may cover problems that arise during the home sale, such as a leaky roof or water in the basement.
The main types of home warranties cover the basic essentials, but additional plan types focus on specific areas such as:
Appliance plan: This plan covers typical household appliances like refrigerators, stoves, washer and dryer, built-in microwaves, and dishwashers. It costs $360 and $540 per year.
System plan: Costing between $360 and $540 per year, this plan covers central home systems like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and water heaters.
Combination plan: This plan type covers both systems and appliances, costing between $545 and $1,500.
