"I highly recommend Anderson Blinds, Shades, & Shutters. The owner, Tyler Anderson, installed shutters throughout my home. He is a very respectful person, and he actually does return phone calls and texts. I am extremely pleased with Tyler's work, and I would not hesitate to hire him again if the need arises."

"First of all, Paul Stoural, owner of Marathon Services, helped me get an insurance claim for the hail damage that occurred on 4/9/13. The first insurance adjustor said there was no damage to my roof from the hail.  Mr. Stoural recommended that I ask for a second adjustor to take a look at my roof.  Paul said he would be present  when the second adjustor came to inspect my roof. The second adjustor determined that there was hail damage to my roof and gutters, siding, front window, and deck.  I believe that Mr. Stoural's presence definitely helped with the insurance company's second decision, that there was damage from the hail storm.
I am very pleased with the services I received from Marathon Services.  The materials arrived on the day that I was told they would be delivered and the work started on the scheduled day The workers worked from early in the morning to  late in the evening.  The whole experience was very positive.  Luis, the foreman, was very polite and kept me informed throughout the whole process.  Paul drove by several times to make sure that the work was going well.
I should also mention that my "old" roof was cedar shake, so the removal was quite messy.  However, the men covered all of my shrubs, and would pick up the debris at the end of each day. The final clean up was excellent!
Everyone was courteous and punctual.  Luis, the foreman, would keep me updated on the progress of the job and answered my questions thoroughly.
I also had Marathon Services repair my deck.  Once again, I was very pleased with the final product.
I would definitely recommend Marathon Services and should I need any more work in the future I will call Marathon Services!"

"Amanda from Homemade design provided me with a variety of suggestions for couches, end-tables, lamps, window coverings, rugs, paints, accessories to match my style and color preferences for my living room. Amanda has better than great ideas and worked to stay within my budget. I also hired Amanda to design my kitchen, dining room, game room, and master bedroom and bath. Building and furnishing a house is a daunting task, and Amanda was a great help in putting it all together. I couldn't have done it without her. Well done Amanda! Would I recommend Amanda? Yes Yes Yes!!"

"It went fine. Each crew was on time and did the work in the time stated and it was very well done. We had a small issue a few weeks later with some tiles coming loose. They did come out and fix the problem after a couple of calls."

Window Shutters questions, answered by experts

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.

Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.
