"Everything went great! Got appointment right away. Due to my being at work, left my home door open. Plumber called me at work after finishing upstairs bathroom and asked for permission to install new faucet in laundryroom. I returned home and was pleased with the work that was done. When I received the bill, I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable my charges were! Would certainly call them again."

"The team came in and did a great job. John and Travis were very professional when working with what we wanted. Phill and team did a very professional job of installing the new shower, tub and vanities. I would definitely have them do more projects if I have them available."

"Sinan Sugurgeci was the inspector who did the inspection. I was very impressed with his knowledge and presentation of services to be done. He is the main reason why I decided to hire Innovative Basement Authority to perform the necessary work"

"Corey did a great job on replacing a faucet and tightening another in hard to reach places and with fastenings that were rusty and hard to turn. I would say fair pricing, but I got too good of a deal... seemed kind of unfair to Corey."

"Amanda has been very very helpful.  The prices are a little high but they are very good quality and it is worth it.  She helped me do my den and I purchased some furniture.  She is very friendly answering any of my questions, and has been a pleasure to work with."

Did a good job, providing 2 layouts to choose from.  Completed design and sent email and snail mail paint and furniture samples in a little over a month from starting the process.  The previous estimate was 2-3 weeks so it wasn't so late.  My only disappointment was the design was not for the complete room.  They told me that the missing area was considered an entry way or hallway and could be designed for an additional fee.  I did not want to pay an additional and accepted their explanation, but on second thought, in my opinion, it isn't really separate.  There is a large archway one-third of the way into the room, but I have never considered it as two separate rooms and no one visiting my home has ever mentioned it.  Every room has an entrance.  I wouldn't call the way to get into a room as a separate room. Other than that, I would say a got a great deal overall.

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

PEX pipe is safe for drinking water, though it wasn't always. PEX was introduced in European water supply systems in the 1980s, but early versions of the piping deteriorated when exposed to the higher chlorine levels in U.S. water supplies. Antioxidants were added to PEX piping to meet U.S. potable drinking water standards. Today, it’s commonly used for drinking water.

No, putting new plumber’s tape over old plumber’s tape is not recommended. The old tape connection may not be completely adhered and could cause a leak.

Instead, remove the old tape completely, clean off the pipe threads with a clean rag and wire brush if needed, then apply new plumber’s tape to make your connection.

A shower diverter and a shower valve serve different functions, though some modern models combine them into a single unit. A shower diverter is a specific type of valve that directs the flow of water between different fixtures, such as from a tub spout to a showerhead or handheld sprayer. In contrast, a shower valve (often called a mixing valve) controls the water temperature and turns the shower on and off. A shower system can have both a diverter valve and a mixing valve to manage its functions.

Yes, copper pipes freeze at temperatures of 20 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. In fact, copper pipes are more likely to freeze than other piping types since they conduct energy and lose heat quickly. They’re also more difficult to insulate, since insulation may make it difficult for heat to reach the pipes during sudden surges of cold weather.

When positioning a pot filler, it should be mounted at a height that allows for convenient access without obstructing the cooking area. A general guideline is to place it 18 to 24 inches above the stove. For a more customized height, measure your most-used pots and install the filler 5 to 10 inches above your tallest one. Regarding horizontal placement, while centering the pot filler can be aesthetically pleasing and ensure it reaches all burners, it is often safer to install it to the left or right of the cooking surface. This placement helps you avoid reaching over a hot stove and reduces the risk of the filler itself getting hot from a large boiling pot. If you do choose to center it, be careful to avoid burns.
