"I contacted Diego to assist with hanging window blinds in a 2-story great room. The ceiling height is 18 feet. Though the requested project wasnâ t something he typically does, he was willing to help me without hesitation. He brought all the necessary equipment . I am very pleased with his service."

"From this point forward, this company will be my go-to for any home repairs I need. We were looking for a trash can fenced enclosure that was installed rather poorly a few years ago. Our handyman, Jose (jose@charlotte), was attentive, thorough, and dedicated to the best outcome for our family. He arrived on time, remained a consummate professional, and helped us make the best decisions for our improvement project. We are so pleased with the outcome. Thank you, Jose, and thank you, Cransten. Moving forward, this will be my go-to home improvement company!"

"I wish there were more than 5 stars! I couldn't be happier with Mario and his partner's work. They were on courteous, on time, brought high quality paint, which they included in their low price, and painted beyond my expectations. They smoothed out the walls before painting, and also painted trim and baseboards. Their work is shear professionalism and done to perfection! They clearly take pride in what they do! They wear booties, protect your furniture and carpets, and have hands like surgeons. I would go on and on - but will stop here and say that if you land on Mario Osario, you should look no further! Do yourself a favor and hire him! He is AMAZING! I am thrilled with my choice of Osario's painting and will recommend them every time someone asks about a high quality painter!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Very little. One inch of water can stain walls, warp wood, and create a perfect environment for mold growth. One to two inches of water can do significant damage to drywall, insulation, and electrical systems. Anything over that is considered an extensive flood, often resulting in severe structural damage.

Whether you need a drywall anchor depends on the specifics of your project, particularly what you're hanging and where. You do not need a drywall anchor if you can screw or nail the object directly into a wooden stud, as the wood provides sufficient support and stability. However, if there are no studs in the location where you plan to hang the item, you should use drywall anchors to ensure it is securely supported. For very lightweight objects, like small pictures, adhesive picture hanging strips can be a suitable alternative to anchors.

Whether you need drywall anchors depends on your specific project, particularly where you are hanging an item. Drywall anchors are not necessary if you can drive a screw directly into a wooden stud behind the wall, as the stud provides sufficient support. However, since studs are not present everywhere in a wall, you will need to use drywall anchors if you are hanging an object in a location without a stud. For very lightweight items, picture hanging strips can also be a suitable alternative.

According to the EPA, mold grows within 24 to 48 hours if left untreated after a water leak. So unless you notice the leak and stop it right away, you only have a day or so before mold is a real concern. If you don’t notice the leak, it can take about three weeks for the mold spores to become visible. That means you’ve likely had an active mold infection for a few weeks by the time you notice discoloration.

Plaster is a pretty tough surface, but it can still sustain damage from things like bumping against it, water issues, dampness, extreme humidity changes, and plain old age. Most plaster walls last hundreds of years and will only be taken down to the base layer when major repairs are required. Being cautious around the wall, not placing furniture against it, and ensuring stable humidity are all great ways to reduce possible damage.
