Small jobs welcome

"We are so thrilled with how our yard turned out! We've hired other landscaping companies before, but none have come close to the quality and service these guys delivered. They tackled every weed in our flower beds, trimmed all the bushes beautifully, and laid down fresh mulch and pine straw that completely refreshed the look of our yard. They worked quickly, cleaned up everything, and the price was fantastic. Truly the best experience we’ve had, highly recommend!"

We booked the job, Vert scheduled us 4 days later,; day three Brayan called. He advised rain was forecast and offered to come same day, day3. "In 2013, Nicolas and his amazing team created the most beautiful paver patio (with gas and wood fire pits) for us, along with building a retaining wall and grading/landscaping our property. He returned this Spring to help re-sod our back yard (we wanted to change from fescue to Bermuda grass) and he sealed the patio. I cannot praise Nicholas enough - he is a grading master and a patio artist! Our patio is 8 years old and looks brand new. His team was so professional and Nicolas was involved with the project every step of the way. I give Nicolas’ Hardscapes and Drainage my highest recommendation!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

There are two main times of year to apply mulch: mid to late spring and late fall. Spreading mulch in mid to late spring helps protect new seedlings as the soil warms up. It's best to wait until temperatures are steady, as mulching too early in the spring can slow down the soil's warming process and hinder plant growth. Fall mulching is also beneficial, as it insulates the soil and helps regulate its temperature when the first frosts arrive.

Yes, you can hydroseed with a garden hose, but you’ll need a tank or other large vessel for mixing the slurry, then a pump to send the slurry through the hose for spraying. Making your own hydroseeding unit can work, but it’s not usually worth the effort and supplies unless you already have them.

Hedges can be trimmed in many other shapes than the standard square shape. They can be cut into spiral, cone, and sphere shapes. However, cutting and maintaining these types of shapes is much more challenging. There are metal frames that you can purchase to place around the hedge to make it much easier.

Monkey grass isn’t too picky when it comes to light conditions: It needs sun but prefers partial shade. While it can tolerate full sun, it thrives in environments with partial shade (around four to six hours of sunlight per day). The black mondo grass variety is the most tolerant of heat from direct sunlight.

The soil around your foundation should slope down and away from your home, not toward it. If the grading drops the farther you are from your home, you can enhance the slope by removing more soil. Mark off a few feet from your house and dig up some of this soil. Regrading around your fountain should encourage water to flow away from your home and not collect or “pond.”
