"They seemed to try very hard, they had the knowledge of what they were doing. I think they were too busy to concentrate on the quality. I never received a bill or receipt for the work after asking several times. I have several issues that need to be fixed but can't get in touch with the contractor."

Small jobs welcome

"I contacted Jesus at J Lines Construction LLC with questions about finishing the unfinished second floor of our home (~900sqft). He was the 4th contractor that I had been in contact with for estimates to conduct the framing and hang/finish the drywall work. The estimate Jesus provided was one that I was more than happy with, and he was able to begin work within a reasonable timeframe. Unlike many of the other contractors who act as the middlemen for these projects and hire a team to do the actual work, Jesus was present each day of the project. I could not be more satisfied with his work. I highly recommend J Lines Construction LLC to anyone looking for a honest, diligent, and timely contractor."

"Johnathan painted 8 rooms and a very large hallway, and it all went very well! Johnathan is a very good painter plus he cleaned up behind himself daily. I recommend him for any kind of painting. I hope he can do some other work in my house."

"Have used the business twice so far with excellent results both times. Patched drywall and painted the den as well as plumbing repairs in master bathroom and replace faucet in 2nd bathroom. I will definitely hire this company again."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.

Depending on the place where the cutting error occurred, you may be able to fix it. Learning how to patch a hole in drywall is challenging, but if you can tape and mud drywall, you can do it. Having said that, patching is time consuming. Early in the installation process, you may find that it’s easier and far less time consuming to just start over with a new sheet of drywall, cutting a new hole in the right spot. You may be able to use part of the incorrectly cut piece elsewhere, so it’s not completely wasted.

Plaster itself has a higher R-value than drywall. However, there are other considerations surrounding plaster and insulation. As a general rule, it's easier to obtain consistency in insulating value and quality when working with drywall rather than plaster. Plaster walls often don't contain any insulation behind the wall covering by design, and careful evaluation is necessary when choosing to add it.

While you can put new drywall over old drywall, it’s not always the best option. In some cases, drywalling over drywall can make it harder to find wires and pipes behind your walls and conceal more serious problems with your walls. It can also make the room smaller. On the plus side, putting drywall over drywall can improve soundproofing and insulation. Plus, it’s often less expensive than tearing down and adding new drywall.

You can paint over plaster, but repair any damage to the plaster first, or the paint will crack and bubble. You should also prepare the surface of the plaster to accept paint, which gives your paint job the best chance of looking good and lasting a long time. Before applying the color you want, apply a coat or two of primer. Additionally, use latex paint, and choose a latex paint with a satin finish for areas with dampness, like bathrooms.
