"The guys relocated my washer and dryer and moved it to my sunroom. They created an enclosure to hide the units. I am happy the way things turned out. They were efficient and cleaned up after."

"This has got to be the most professional and caring operation I've ever had the pleasure to work with. From the beginning of the project, Debbie Gladstone offered excellent advice and suggestions. She listened to our ideas and concerns and worked with us to make our project not only "drop dead georgous" but also cost effective. When the time came for the actual install, we were introduced to all involved and made to feel we were an important part of the entire installation. My thanks to "Oscar" who performed magic with 18 inch tiles in small confined areas, and his assistant who worked extremely hard accepting only perfection. The entire process was an enjoyable experience and we would not hesitate to highly recommend Gladstone Granite"

"I have a hobby shop in my garage and we needed to insulate the attic space to get the most out of our mini-split heat pump. Jose gave us a very reasonable quote to install cellulose-based blown-in insulation for a 20'x35' attic space. Jose and his team did a good job of prepping the space, installing the insulation and cleaning up. This took 38 bags of 19 lb insulation and nearly 4 hours to complete the job. Installing this blown-in insulation is a rather messy job and Jose did a very thorough work to ensure even coverage of the attic space."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

For glass tile, you want to use unsanded grout. Sanded grout is a stronger and grittier cement grout that is great for installing tiles with wider gaps and into joints. However, it is susceptible to scratching glass tile and is more difficult to use in thinner gaps. Unsanded grout, while more expensive, is easier to fit between thin gaps and is less harsh on delicate materials, like glass tile.

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.

No, you don’t technically need a cement backer board for a wall tiling project, but not using it risks disastrous moisture damage. Cement is naturally water-resistant, whereas drywall soaks it in, which can lead to warping or mold growth. Always use a backer board treated with a waterproof membrane for bathrooms and other chronically damp areas to ensure complete tile shower waterproofing.

Tile shouldn’t be set tight against the tub. Bathtubs can expand when filled, and they can shift slightly with the weight of occupants. For this reason, it’s important to leave a slight gap between the bathtub and the first row of tile. Aim for a narrow gap of approximately 1/16 of an inch, filled with caulk, to allow for this expansion and movement while still allowing for tile shower waterproofing.

The tile trim you use will depend on a few factors, including design preferences, budget, and whether the project is DIY or not. You might choose plastic trim if you want an easier DIY job that is more budget-friendly. There are also more color options available in plastic. On the other hand, you might choose metal to match your fixtures or for areas with heavy use.
