"We had leaks coming from two chimneys and we found Apple Valley Stucco on Home Advisor. Sebastian and his crew did an outstanding job of not only replacing the existing stucco on both but repairing one that had been badly damaged. Their work met the highest professional standards. The chimneys were painted to match the house, and they completely cleaned up the porch and yard where some debris had accumulated. They did the work on time and within the estimated cost. I recommend them without reservation."

"We are so very happy with the work that Luis did for us. Their work was thorough and timely. Our drywall looks fantastic and beautifully finished. We highly recommend this company. Ours was a bit of a challenge because of how the plaster had originally been hung. Luis made it look so fantastic. We cannot wait to get the paint on these beautiful walls!"

"Nathan Nate was fantastic! He did a beautiful and thorough job on the task I hired him for. I then asked if he could do a few handyman repairs for me, like getting a bi-fold closet door back on its track and getting my doorbell to work. He easily completed these tasks. He even found a few things that needed repair that I didnâ t see. All of this was a tremendous help to me as I prepared to sell my home. With his help, my home sold 4 hours after it was listed!"

"Awesome experience! I submitted my home advisors request and was called back within an hour. He was already in the area and arranged to come by and give an estimate. He found my couch had a broken frame. He was able to repair it on the spot. My couch was repaired the same day I sent in my request at a very reasonable cost. I will definitely use them again!"

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

While it’s most common to sand plaster dry, it is possible to wet-sand plaster, too. Doing so can reduce the amount of plaster dust released into the air and make it easier to work in smaller, more delicate areas (such as around wall trim). However, some people find that wet sanding leads to more imperfections, which is why larger walls are more often dry sanded to ensure an even finish.

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.

Plaster that sags or bulges, shows extensive deep cracks, or is crumbling from water damage or simply time may need replacement. Plaster walls can look a little “worn” for a long time before they need replacing. The only real way to know if it needs a replacement is to hire a professional to assess the condition of the plaster.

Regular inspections and cleaning to prevent moisture or pest issues.

Costs range from $200 to $800, depending on the area size and damage severity.
