Yes, you can custom-color your gravel if you’d like. Use an acrylic- or oil-based paint designed for outdoor use, and apply sealant to protect it from the elements. Some companies offer customized color gravel, either mixing the colorant in a cement mixer with gravel or using industrial mixers to dye, paint, or color it.

Replace organic mulch every one to two years, depending on the variety. Don’t waste money regrading around your foundation with expensive topsoil. Use topsoil only for the last layer of soil, about 5 to 10 inches, so that when you do your foundation planting, your grass and plants will have the nutrients they need to grow.
