Customers say: True professional

"I hired Patch Perfect to remove and replace a sagging drywall section and to also remove the popcorn ceiling of the entire living room. I also had him paint the ceiling afterwards. He did an amazing job! The best drywall company I have ever hired. He was always on time and was very professional. He vacuumed and cleaned every single day he was on the project. He made sure the floors and walls were protected the entire time. My ceiling looks beautiful! I would not hesitate to hire him again. His rates are reasonable and his work is exceptional! So glad I found him!"

"My home was in need of major drywall repair due to poor patchwork and DIY projects by the previous owners. I also had Robert remove one tall popcorn ceiling and paint it white for me. Robert will do everything he can to get the job done right, in a timely manner, and at fair prices. Throughout my entire experience, I felt that Robert was there to help me as his customer and that he was on my side. He was very courteous toward my home and needs and made my walls and ceilings look better, 20-fold."

"Brian Humphrey came out to give me an estimate on repair and replacement of drywall and interior painting. I needed this work done after another contractor did extremely poor work and ultimately stopped showing up to complete the job despite being paid in full. My home was left in shambles. Brian spent time answering all my questions and carefully explained how he would remedy my situation. He inspired confidence that he would be able to help me after everything I had been through. I had attempted to contact 15 other contractors. Only 3 came out to look at the job. Of those 3, only Humphrey was willing to put an estimate in writing. Every one of those other contractors was found on either Home Advisor or Angieâ s List. Brianâ s crew started the work when he said they would. Throughout the process the 2 gentleman I worked with were professional, fast, clean and thorough. The job was completed on time and on budget. I canâ t stress enough how enthusiastically I recommend Humphrey Drywall and Paint."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Vinegar and bleach are effective options for removing mold from drywall. Vinegar is a better choice if you have a smaller mold issue while bleach is best if you have a larger mold problem. If the area you're cleaning has limited ventilation, using vinegar would be a better option. In that case, you could mix vinegar with baking soda to remove more stubborn mold growth.

Technically speaking, you can use drywall primer over plasters. However, oil-based primers work the most effectively on wall plasters. Meanwhile, water-based primers work just as well with drywalls. Nowadays, there are also universal primers suitable for drywall and plaster. Overall, you will be fine as long as you are using a trustworthy brand.

The easiest way to cut holes in drywall for electrical boxes is to use a spiral saw with a drywall router bit. Hang the drywall without cutting out a hole for the box, but make sure you measure and mark where the box is located on the wall. Once you screw in the drywall sheet, drill a small hole into the box void, insert the spiral saw bit, and move it around the edge of the box using the inside wall as a guide. You can also use an oscillating multi-tool with an electrical box cutout for fast, professional results.

Textured walls can increase the value of your home if the style is modern and seen as a desirable feature and not something a prospective buyer would need to remedy. A good example of this is popcorn texture versus Venetian plaster. The plaster wall would add value to your home, whereas the popcorn texture may be something a new buyer would want to remove.

It’s always better to follow proven drywall repair tips and fix the seams that look bad. However, if you simply want to make them less noticeable until you have time to fix them, you can use paint. A darker color of paint makes bad drywall tape seams less noticeable than light-colored paint. Matte paint hides bad seams better than glossy paint does, too.
