"Rios Drywall did a fantastic job..We wanted our basement finished and he and his team came in and redid the entire thing in a professional manner VERY reasonable! They put up drywall, added a ceiling, professionally painted and added a vinyl tile flooring. We couldn't ask for more. We will use Miguel and his company for any future projects."

Customers say: True professional

"Joseph Felix is a true professional. He looked at my project, issued an easy to understand and detailed estimate with no pressure. We scheduled a start time. Joseph came to start the project when we agreed. He worked diligently 4 days. At times we would forget he was here . He taped up the floors, windows, shower , floors every where he worked to protect my home. He was very neat & cleaned up all the dust & debris as he completed each stage of my bathroom repair. I would highly recommend Joseph for any drywall project and would definitely have him come back for any project of drywall repair I may have. To summarize Mr. Felix has something that I find hard to find today. “ Work Ethnic “ as well as Honesty!! Robert Billings"

"I had a problem with overflow from my air conditioner and as a result, there was soon water damage to my drywall. I had drywall ceiling tape damage in the main entrance of my home and water damage and discoloring in the master bedroom. I searched Home Advisor and Robert Forster Painting was highly recommended and I can say that that recommendation has been earned. I called Robert Foster Painting on Wednesday and sent him photos of the damage, by Friday morning was at my home ready to work. My ceiling damage was noticeable and the discoloration in the bedroom was bad, to my astonishment at the end of the day I could not see where the damage was on my ceiling walkway or in the bedroom. Me and my family were amazed at the quality of work and the attention to detail for this drywall repair. It was as if the damaged never happened, all I can say is WOW! I will hire Robert Forster Painting for all of my home projects and repairs."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You can paint over plaster, but repair any damage to the plaster first, or the paint will crack and bubble. You should also prepare the surface of the plaster to accept paint, which gives your paint job the best chance of looking good and lasting a long time. Before applying the color you want, apply a coat or two of primer. Additionally, use latex paint, and choose a latex paint with a satin finish for areas with dampness, like bathrooms.

If you don’t have studs in the area where you want to install your TV mount, you may still be able to install a TV mount on drywall. The easiest way to install a mount on drywall is by using drywall anchors—but not just any plastic anchors. Choose molly bolts or toggle anchors, which have a weight capacity of around 50 pounds. For added support, consider pairing drywall anchors with a wall mounting plate. Extra heavy TVs may need to be mounted via the ceiling joists or beams.

There are several benefits to wet-sanding drywall, but the main perk is that it produces far less dust than dry-sanding. As a result, wet-sanding poses fewer health risks and makes less of a mess in your home. Plus, damp sponges are less abrasive than sandpaper, so there’s a smaller chance of scratching or damaging the drywall paper. Wet-sanding also creates a smoother finish than dry-sanding.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

The cost to install drywall is between $1.50 and $3 per square foot, while shiplap installation costs between $2 and $7 on average. In most applications, shiplap installations cost more than that of putting in drywall. However, several ways exist to reduce shiplap prices, especially for small locations or accent walls, which can keep the total cost of shiplap competitive with that of drywall.
