Customers say: True professional

"Joseph Felix with Patch Perfect Drywall did an excellent job removing the popcorn ceiling in our home in Thomasville, NC. In addition, he repaired some drywall and finished some drywall that I had installed. He was courteous and hard-working. He always showed up promptly. I would highly recommend his services."

"Had drywall put over a falling Celotex ceiling plus put drywall over an interior window to separate two rooms. They took a little extra time to allow the drywall mud to completely dry, especially on the tricky ceiling repair. I think other firms would have rushed this part of job. Then ceiling and wall patch were primed/ painted. The final results turned out better than expected."

"Just moving here from another state it is not easy to find a knowledgeable professional to hire. I was very pleased with the work, patience, and reasonable price. The communication was excellent, he answered all my questions, called me back, and explained all aspects of the work being done. The workmanship was very thorough and was not a rush job, it was a great job."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

There are a handful of reasons why your drywall anchors are breaking. Using the wrong type of anchor is the most common problem, so always make sure you’re using the best option for a particular project. That there are electrical wires or plumbing where you’ve placed an anchor or that your drywall is weak are two other possible causes.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

The short answer is yes, a sagging plaster ceiling is dangerous. Sagging plaster on a wall is something you should fix immediately, but it isn’t a major concern. If the same type of sagging occurs on a ceiling, however, you could be in danger of your ceiling falling in large chunks. When plaster sags, it loses its strength and ability to hold itself up. The bonds that hold it together are strong, though, so if a sagging area falls, it will take large pieces down with it.

Costs depend on damage size, labor rates, and whether additional services like painting are required.

Regular dusting, occasional repainting, and avoiding harsh scrubbing preserve the finish.
