"I have called Nash Heating and Air three times now for various issues with my old, outdated heat pump. The first time that my old unit stopped working Nash Heating and Air, politely, informed me that my heat pump was outdated and would be difficult to keep running. They priced a new unit for me, but it is currently out of my budget. James, the owner, did not try to push the new unit on me, but instead gave me some options to keep my current unit running. The repair guys have been so nice and understanding, I have never felt like they are trying to push a new unit on me and they have always been able to get my old unit back up and running. I know that it is just a matter of time before I have to get a new unit and I will call Nash Heating and Air when that time comes."

"Clay was super helpful and knowledgeable about the inner workings and mechanics with hvac units. He took the time to throughly diagnose my hvac issues and explained it to me (someone who knows little) in a way I could understand. He was able to truly fix the problem and not just put and bandaid on it (which it was happened with other companies so many times in the past). His prices are fair and he’s courteous and helpful. 10/10 would definitely recommend and will be using his company exclusively in the future."

"Jim with North Alabama Technical Services removed some items from my computer so that I could send emails and attend to items I needed to address that day. As planned, the next day he thoroughly cleaned my computer, he also made helpful suggestions while working on my computer. I would call him again if needed and I thought the fee was reasonable."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

There are many recognizable symptoms of AC compressor failure. They include loud banging noises, hot air being continually circulated in your home despite running the AC at full blast, uneven airflow and cooling, and electrical issues like constant surges due to the compressor working overtime. While some of these symptoms, like uneven cooling, can have other root causes, they are common indicators of compressor problems.

If you’re trying to buy a new AC unit, there are a few crucial factors to consider. Look at the cooling capacity, the available warranty, the energy efficiency, and the type of unit. A ductless unit will cost more up front but may be a more viable option if you don’t already have ductwork. Additionally, a unit with better energy efficiency will cost less to run overall, saving you money on your monthly energy bill.

Yes, you can build a deck over your outdoor HVAC unit, but you need to leave at least 5 feet of vertical clearance above the unit. If you don’t want your deck to be that high off the ground, you could build a floating deck in another part of your yard—again, as long as you leave at least 4 feet of horizontal space between the deck and your AC unit.

To lower humidity quickly, run a dehumidifier or your home's air conditioner or turn on exhaust fans to extract moisture. These methods can quickly and effectively bring your home's humidity levels to a comfortable condition. However, you should consistently practice humidity-reducing tasks to maintain proper indoor humidity levels.

To find a reputable HVAC company, start by researching providers in your area. Look for companies with mostly positive online reviews and check the Better Business Bureau’s website for customer complaints. Next, verify their credentials. Rule out any companies that aren’t licensed, as this is a requirement in some states and municipalities, and confirm they are insured. Once you have a shortlist, contact each professional to ask key questions: How many years of experience do you have? Do you hold any third-party certifications? Do you have experience working on my specific type of HVAC system or brand? Can you provide references? What is your per-hour pricing? Do you offer maintenance contracts for ongoing savings? Do you provide a warranty for your work?
