"Brian is a fantastic plumber! He discovered the problem with both leaky sinks and fixed them perfectly! We thought the water was dripping from one area and he discovered it was leaking in 2 places. He showed up on time, was super friendly and cleaned up after he was finished. I highly recommend Brian at Wilmington Roto Rooter!"

"David & Tammy Hardee, the owners of this business are the real deal. The old fashion idea of genuine service. They called literally within a minute of my filling our the Home Advisor request form and Tammy was on the phone with my wife 3 times in the next five minutes to figure out what was wrong and when they could be hear. Less than 2 hours later they have fixed my sewer problem. I was expecting a bill that was 3-4 times higher than they charged us. On a scale of 1 to 10 they rate an 11 !!! "This company came the next day after I called them about slow drains and a garbage disposal that would throw ground garbage back into my double sinks. They snaked the drain and said the disposal wasn't piped right so that made it more likely to occur; they added another elbow to it, and it now works like it should and sounds better. They also plunged my bathroom sinks, showed me how to do it by putting my thumb over the drain hole, and they got my toilet working better by replacing the Fluidmaster and adjusting the water level. They are very professional, removing their shoes and wiping up any mess they make, which is very unusual for a plumber as any I have had in the past have always left a big mess for me to clean up. I was very pleased with their service will call them the next time I have a plumbing need, and plan to have them install a new toilet."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You could be smelling sewer gas in your kitchen because of a dry P-trap, clogged vent pipe, or leaking plumbing seals. If you smell a rotten egg odor, check your sink’s P-trap and plumbing connections first. A clogged or damaged vent pipe can trap sewer gas and push it back into your kitchen through the plumbing pipes. Loose or deteriorated seals around drainpipes can also allow sewer gas to leak out. If you can’t find the source, call a local plumber for expert help.

That pungent rotten egg smell coming from your drain is likely the buildup of biofilm—hair, skin, and soap scum that turns into a black sticky mess. In this case, pouring down near-boiling water, baking soda, and white vinegar will remove the smell. Keep in mind that a rotten egg smell is occasionally a sign of larger sewage line clogs and other related issues.

Outdoor plumbing issues are no less serious or urgent to fix than interior plumbing problems. These problems may require excavation and lawn repair due to the plumbing often being buried underground. The most common outside plumbing problems include:

  • Clogged landscape drainage: $200–$1,000

  • Clogged sewer lines: $60–$250 per linear foot

  • Corroded or rusted pipes: $1,500–$15,000+

  • Leaking drain lines: $200–$1,000

  • Leaking water mains: $300–$4,000+

  • Septic system failure: $600–$3,000+

  • Tree roots in pipes: $200–$1,000

  • Well pump failure: $350–$1,500

Toilet paper is the only material that you should flush down toilets. Other items like wipes, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, dental floss, and medications should be disposed of in the trash. Flushing these items can lead to plumbing issues and damage to sewage systems. Grease and cooking oils should also be avoided as they can solidify in pipes, causing blockages. Proper disposal helps prevent clogs and ensures the efficient operation of wastewater treatment systems while protecting the environment.

Simple blockages can be cleared using household plungers or manual snakes, provided no severe plumbing issues exist.
