"Ted was professional, competent, and personable. I would hire him again in a minute. Oh, I need to add fast. He showed up on time, and finished quickly. I was impressed. His fee was very reasonable. He'll be back when I need an electrician."

"We had him come out. He gave a free estimate and actually said that he thought that our electrical issues were because we wired something wrong and that our vacuum was causing a short. He was right on both fronts. He did not charge us for the estimate and his honesty saved us a lot of money. I would highly recommend him for his integrity and also his insight into electrical problems. He easily could have recommended a circuit upgrade which would have served him, but he put the customer first. Very impressed"

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

Having a Level 2 charger can increase your home value, especially as electric vehicles become more popular. Homebuyers who have EVs or are interested in getting one will appreciate the convenience of a ready-to-use charging station. The added value can vary based on location and buyer preferences.

Setting up utilities on a vacant property usually takes at least a few months, or between 6 weeks to 16 weeks. This process requires working with the local planning and zoning department, hiring a building contractor or engineer to design the utility layout, securing permits, laying the lines, and connecting the utilities.

Charging your EV every night isn’t always necessary. Most EVs have sufficient range to cover daily commutes without needing a nightly charge, particularly if you have a Level 2 charger. Charging once every few days or as needed can prolong the battery’s lifespan.

Hire an electrician the same way you would an employee. Ask questions and look for a good fit. Streamline the process by using these questions to ask an electrician. It's also common to ask for a quote in writing. Don’t forget to provide all the project details to ensure there are no surprises or opportunities for added fees.

The cost of installing a 240-volt outlet for an electric car averages between $175 and $300. Depending on the type of outlet as well as labor costs, you might pay as little as $130 or upwards of $400. Hiring a professional electrician makes up the bulk of the expense but ensures a safe and code-compliant installation.
