"Chose Brothers via Angi to determine our heat pump problem. Their assessment led us (given it's age) to decide to replace the system. I obtained multiple quotes and Brothers was priced the best. They promptly installed a new system. All of the guys involved like Matt, Andrew, Shawn & Jamal (forgetting the electrician and another tech guys name, but they all) did an excellent job. I would highly recommend using Brothers for your HVAC needs."

"Let me start by saying this was a massive undertaking that required multiple disciplines (Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry and HVAC) and the folks from McKinney's exceeded our expectations with the quality of service they provided. Due to the size of the project, I assumed there would be a few bumps in the road, but to my surprise, no bumps at all. They kept us updated at the end of each day they were on site with both that days progress and what/who to expect the next day. They have earned a customer for life and we are extremely happy with how the job turned out. Going into it, they had a solid plan in place and executed it as promised. They even provided a few extra repairs that were not a part of the project at no additional cost. Amazing!!!!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes. It's normal for the AC compressor to cycle on and off intermittently in dry mode as it maintains the desired humidity level. The compressor cycles to prevent over-dehumidification and to maintain a comfortable indoor environment. This cycling behavior ensures efficient operation and optimal humidity control, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the dry mode function in your AC system.

Your AC might not cool after a power outage because of a tripped circuit breaker, blown fuse, or damage to the compressor or capacitor. If you notice your AC not working after a power outage, in most cases, the breaker has tripped or the system has built-in brownout and blackout protection. Reboot the AC by turning it off at the thermostat, resetting the circuit breaker, and waiting 30 minutes to turn the AC on again.

Yes. Return air vents are responsible for gathering and pulling in the warmer air. Once they draw it in, your system conditions the air by removing the warmer molecules from it, allowing your air conditioner to dispense the cooler air back into your home. Not only does this create a more comfortable environment for you, but it also keeps your air conditioner from overworking, resulting in lower energy bills.

In some cases, yes, portable air conditioners are worth buying. They’re a relatively affordable option for cooling small spaces. (On average, they cost between $100 and $500 per unit.) Plus, they’re easy to set up, and you can move them around to cool various parts of your home as needed. However, they aren’t the most efficient AC option, and they tend to be noisy.

The time it takes for an air conditioner to dry fully after cleaning depends on the unit's size and humidity levels. Most units will dry within two to four hours after cleaning, but check the manufacturer's recommendations for drying times. Make sure to leave the unit off until it's completely dry.
