"I have had the pleasure of having Lydia, Jerrod, and Cody from High Country Air come and work on my heat pump a few times now. Each time they have been very attentive and thorough when diagnosing and fixing the problem. My first experience with their company was wonderful. They were actually called in for a second opinion after a well known and recommended HVAC company did not fix our heat pump. They were sure to listen to my concerns and within a short amount of time my AC was fixed. Recently, my heater went out and they were very thorough and quickly fixed that issue also! I would highly recommend this company to anyone in need of HVAC services. They have wonderful prices, great customer service, and fix the issue quickly. You will not find anyone better!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s best to turn off an AC unit that’s blowing hot air to prevent system damage and avoid expensive energy bills. If you let the AC continue running, it will put more strain on the condenser coil and compressor. Plus, if the AC is blowing hot air because of a refrigerant leak, it can also lead to a frozen evaporator coil.

Yes, government incentives and programs are available to encourage energy-efficient upgrades in many regions. These incentives may include tax credits, rebates, grants, and low-interest loans for homeowners who invest in energy-efficient improvements such as HVAC system upgrades, insulation, and efficient windows. The availability and specific details of these incentives can vary by location, so check with your local government or utility company to explore your options.

Your central A/C unit should be professionally serviced and inspected at least once a year to ensure it operates properly and efficiently. This is best done before the peak cooling season. A full-service inspection by a qualified pro will typically include checking safety components for issues like carbon monoxide leaks, verifying cooling components and coolant levels, and inspecting electrical parts like fuses and wiring. Regular servicing enhances efficiency, mitigates potential problems, and maintains optimal performance. Because AC systems contain hazardous refrigerant, professional handling is essential.

Mold in your air conditioner isn't a good thing, as it can be harmful to your health. If the mold travels through the ductwork or is blown out of the A/C, you and your family can inhale mold spores and develop respiratory illnesses and other problems. Preventing mold from growing in the air conditioner will help protect your health.

You might notice that your air conditioner isn’t running as effectively as it once did. Specifically, your AC unit could take longer to cool your home, or it might struggle to remove humidity from the air. Higher utility bills and hissing sounds coming out of your AC could also indicate a leak.
