"I've used John in the past and have never had a bad experience. This time he patched up some dry wall that came off when I took down some M3 tape. "This is our second review of Atlantic Coastal Enterprises.  Our last review was in regard to our new and beautiful roof, done by Atlantic Coastal.  This review is about the second job done for us, brand new soffit, fascia, siding and gutters.  Brian and Sara?s crew are truly skilled craftsmen.  The work is beautiful and makes our home look like a new house. I know a lot of people have heard of Mike Holmes the famous Canadian TV Contractor.  Well, Brian is the closest example of a top notch construction man, and he?s right here in the U.S.   Brian and Sara Bryce are the most honest business people you?ll ever want to meet.  They are fair in price, prompt on service and provide excellent craftsmanship to all of their jobs.  The care and precise attention to detail is evident in all their services.   We wish all construction companies were like Atlantic Coastal.

The best type of paint for vinyl siding is a high-quality acrylic latex paint, often labeled as '100% acrylic.' Not wrapping a house before installing siding can lead to moisture intrusion, rot, mold, and even higher energy bills. Older houses may have siding installed without wrap underneath, so it’s a good idea to add a wrap layer when it comes time to replace old siding to prevent potential damage from water intrusion—local codes may even require it, so check with your municipal building authority. 

Mildew grows into porous wood, making it more difficult to remove than regular dirt (and more destructive). We suggest using a dedicated mildew and mold fungicide to remove mildew, which is found in any local home improvement store. Apply a dose of the fungicide to the siding and leave to work according to the instructions, usually for an hour or two. Then wash it thoroughly away and scrub the spot again. Repeat the process if necessary. If nothing is removing the mildew stains, you should plan on removing those clapboard planks in time, as their damage could cause future problems.

You may only need to repaint fiber cement siding every decade or so, but you should clean it every six to 12 months, depending on your local climate. First, wash with a garden hose or similar low-pressure device (not a high-pressure washer, which can damage the material) to remove dirt and any large debris. Then, gently wipe down the surface with a soft brush or cloth in a side-to-side motion, following the grain of the fiber cement.
