"The Remodeling company was wonderful to work with! The office staff kept me informed when projects were going to start & their duration, when dumpsters would be dropped off or picked up, as well as letting me know when they wouldnâ t be there due to weather issues- rain and high winds. All the crews were polite and answered any questions I had. I had the Remodeling Company do my roof, tear down the old deck, build a new deck to code, and install vinyl siding and new gutters. I had had an open insurance claim for part of the roof & after the Remodeling company inspected my roof, they sent pictures of hail/wind damage to my insurance company. While insurance wasnâ t going to pay for the new claim because it was less than my deductible, the Remodeling companyâ s persistence and taking & sending insurance people more pictures of the roof has resulted in my getting money towards the roof for both claims! My house has had most of the work completed and it looks fantastic! I could not be more pleased with my selection of the company to do the updates to my house. By the way, my hiring the Remodeling Company came about as the result of a knock on my front door when they were doing work in the area. I did check them out and saw they were very highly rated & the next day we got into specifics about the project and talked money and timeframe. There was a delay due to my having to get the work approved by the HOA, but work commenced less than 2 weeks after getting HOA approval! Thank you The Remodeling Company for a job well done!"

"Roy and his crew did an entire makeover on my home. New siding and windows, new front door, added a sliding patio door and added an additional window in my kitchen. To say Roy did a great job is an understatement...He was professional, knew his business WELL, kept me informed every step of the way throughout the renovation. I was out of town when he started my reno and he kept in touch daily including sending me pictures of the progress. When there was additional work to be done, In my case rotted wood discovered during install, Roy called me he explained clearly why and what had to be done and the additional charges to do the job right were very reasonable. Roy and his team don't take any shortcuts or cover up any problems. They repaired my rotten wood issues before installing the siding and windows and the results are fantastic. Don't waste your time with another company, the old saying you get what you pay for always rings true. Roy and his crew did a great job for a very fair price, He came highly recommended to me and I am I glad I contracted with him. I will definitely use Coastal Exteriors again and wont hesitate to recommend him to all who ask me. Honest, Good value and reliable... Thanks Roy"

Siding questions, answered by experts

Many modern homes have soffits, but older ones don’t, and you may be wondering why. Older homes have eaves that extend further beyond the home and help to circulate air, negating the need for a soffit. This style of building has faded away, therefore, modern homes need separate soffit installation. Modern soffits are more efficient than this older style and require less material to construct, saving homeowners money.

Hardie board is more expensive than vinyl siding. Vinyl siding costs $3 to $12 per square foot, on average, with cost skewing toward the lower end of that range. Hardie board siding costs $7 to $18 per square foot, depending on the style, color, and trim. However, it lasts twice as long and often looks nicer, meaning you’ll see a higher bump in your home value and greater curb appeal from Hardie board.

You have several options you can choose from for climbing plants without damaging your siding. Climbing hydrangea and Carolina jessamine are two options, and jasmine, honeysuckle, and sweet pea are a few others. Look for these climbing plants to add lovely curb appeal and are less likely to cause damage to your siding.

Yes, mixing siding types will affect your home value, and in most cases, it will improve curb appeal and add to the value of your home. This is especially true if you get the benefit of the high-end appearance of brick or stone siding but save on siding costs by covering most of the exterior with more affordable vinyl or fiber cement.

Yes, siding orientation can affect a home’s resale value, but in what way and by how much really depends on the prospective buyer. For instance, some buyers prefer the more modern appearance that vertical siding offers, so having it can increase your home’s value in their eyes. However, other buyers prefer the classic, more common appearance of horizontal siding, so having vertical siding can decrease your home’s value in their eyes.
