"Caleb was extremely diligent in his work. He takes immense pride in his job. He goes over and beyond to make sure the project is complete and accurate. He shows up when he says he will and he is a very good communicator along the way. He is competitively priced. But where he demonstrates real value is in the attention to details and making sure the customer is complete satisfied with the job. I would HIGHLY recommend him for any home or lawn projects."

"Initially I hired Jack Bender to build a garage, however my county code did not allow me to go forward on the build so an extension to my home was considered and approved. Jack Bender and his team of professionals were able to build my sunroom and pergola deck AND remodel my front porch. All work performed was outstanding and a work of art. These guys are awesome. I am planning on hiring Jack and his team to do more work in the near future. All work was on budget and on time."

"He is honest, prompt, and is meticulous about what he does. He is very careful and does everything in a nice manner. He sticks with us until he has finished and I am satisfied. His prices were reasonable. He continues to do the job until he does it right. He is very responsive. He is very punctual and if he is going to be late, he calls and lets you know. He is very professional. If I have anything to be done anytime, I would rely on him. It is nice to have somebody like him to help. He is going to fix the garage door for me soon. When I met him he was doing work for another house in the neighborhood and I decided to use him since my brother-in-law- was moving in close by. He did things for him and then helped me. He has not given me a quote for that work, but he has been reasonable in everything he has done."

"The project went very well. The window frame upstairs was repaired without entire window replacement. The door frame around the French door downstairs was rotted. It was not salvageable. When we found the door size was no longer made, Javier came up with a solution and the work was completed in less than a day. Great job! I highly recommend these guys. This was the second project I had them do. I'd hire them again."

"Awesome work for a reasonable price. Mason and Tony were communicative and prompt with all services rendered. A larger company quoted me 5 days to complete the remodel in my house but Calypso got it done in half that time and followed up with me after. Can't recommend enough. Thanks guys!"

Garages FAQs, answered by experts

The difference between vinyl and rubber garage door bottom seals comes down to cost, flexibility, and climate. Vinyl is the budget-friendly option, lasting well in moderate climates and resisting wear and tear. In colder climates, it can get stiff and make installation more difficult. Alternatively, rubber offers more flexibility, even in freezing temperatures, and better sticks to uneven surfaces. Rubber is more expensive but tends to be more adaptable.

Insulating a detached garage won't reduce your home's heating or cooling bills—and insulating an attached garage will only have a small effect on your home's energy efficiency. However, insulating an attached garage can reduce the transfer of heating and cooling to and from the outdoors, which can reduce the amount of energy your home needs to stay comfortable. Also, having an insulated garage is just more pleasant. Balance the cost of insulating your garage with how you'll use the space to determine if the project is worth it.

Having a garage installed certainly adds to the value of your home. The consideration is not whether it adds value, but for many, they want to know if adding a garage yields a return on their investment or ROI. While garages can add anywhere from 5% to 20% of the total value of your property, that doesn’t mean that they return 5% to 20% of the money invested in building them. Most homeowners build garages for a purpose but know that you can recover your investment when you sell or refinance.

Most heat in a garage is lost through air leaks in windows, doors, and walls. This is especially true if the walls are uninsulated, which is common in garages. Consider insulating your garage before installing a garage heater to ensure the heat it generates isn’t wasted, making it less efficient.

On average, a garage door can last between 15 and 30 years. However, this lifespan is influenced by several factors, including the quality and material of the door, local climate conditions, and how frequently it is used and maintained.

Key factors affecting longevity include:

  • Material: Wooden doors can last 20 to 30 years or more, while steel doors typically last 15 to 20 years. More robust options, like triple-layer steel, can last 25 to 30 years with proper care. The number of layers in a door also contributes to its durability, with each additional layer potentially adding five years to its life.

  • Maintenance: Regular inspections, cleaning, and immediate repairs can significantly extend the life of your garage door.

  • Usage and Climate: Doors in harsh climates or those used very frequently may wear out faster.

  • Components: Individual parts have different lifespans. For example, automatic openers may fail sooner than the door itself without regular maintenance, and garage door springs typically need replacement every 7 to 12 years.

While the door panels are designed to last as long as the door, they should be replaced sooner if they become visibly damaged, impact the door's smooth operation, or create a security risk.
