"Great honest contractors. They did my bathrooms, hot water heater, unclogged my house drain and they did a French drain so my basement is not wet anymore. I already hired them to do my whole roof in the spring. I will hire them anytime."

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"Everything went great and the end result was absolutely fantastic. Our house and decks and porches look as good or better than they did when it was new 18 years ago. Every aspect of the experience was perfect. John Prater was professional, right on time from estimate to completion, which was right on schedule."

"Mr. Hargrove was the first to respond.  He has made two trips to the property, provided very professional feedback, followed up in an extremely timely manner, and provided a well documented and affordable bid to complete the necessary repairs.  We look forward to the work being started within the next couple of weeks.  I am very grateful to Mr. Hargrove and his associates for what has been thus far their professional service which has exceeded our expectations.

"Preston of G-1 Plumbing performed the services and addressed the toilet & drain problem. He was unable to stop leak(made it worse) & submitted his recs to Choice Home for review. I was unable to understand Choice Home's response regarding the faucet leak. Their review stated faucet needed to be replaced BUT it was under "builder's warranty." I built this home in 2005. There is no "builder's warranty" now. I cancelled the proposed work order & paid out-of-pocket. A Friend, who was familiar with my builder and knows faucet components, came to my home, adjusted/cleaned the faucet cartridge and stopped the leak. The CHW tech, Preston, is conscientiuos, however, IMHO lacked the knowledge & experience to stop my leak. Home Warranty Companies, at least in my area, hire owner/operators who need the work to build their business and are NOT the most experienced/knowledgeable & are willing to work for less money. In my experience, Home Warranty Companies want the CHEAPEST resolution, not the BEST. I would recommend G-1 Plumbing for most plumbing issues."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Start by assessing the topography and slope of your Murphy property, as steep lots directly dictate your foundation type. Check the soil composition, since rocky terrain and clay soils impact drainage and excavation. You must also verify flood zone status, utility access, and septic suitability. These factors determine if the lot is buildable and shape your overall home building plan.

Helpful?

The current state of your land dictates essential site preparation steps during home building. Heavily wooded parcels in North Carolina require extensive clearing and erosion control permits. Visible rock outcroppings indicate shallow bedrock, requiring intensive excavation or blasting for foundations. You must also assess existing drainage patterns, steep driveway access, and older septic systems to ensure a safe and stable construction process.

Helpful?

Homeowners frequently underestimate the extensive site preparation required for mountain terrain in Murphy, including grading and rock removal. Extending utilities to remote parcels and installing alternative septic systems add significant complexity to home building. Furthermore, you must account for seasonal weather delays from winter freezes and summer thunderstorms, along with strict energy code requirements based on the high local elevation.

Helpful?

Expect a home building timeline of ten to eighteen months from permit application to occupancy in Murphy. Permitting takes four to eight weeks, while site preparation on mountain terrain requires two to six weeks. Laying the foundation takes two to four weeks, followed by eight to sixteen weeks for framing and mechanical rough-ins. Complex site conditions and subcontractor availability directly impact this schedule.

Helpful?

Always verify your contractor holds an active state license before starting your home building project. Look for professionals with extensive experience handling mountain construction and sloped lots in NC. A dedicated local builder maintains strong subcontractor networks and understands county permitting requirements, preventing unnecessary project delays. Ask for references from similar mountain builds and confirm their current availability and start dates.
