"Installation Pro is an outstanding company, and I believe the best one that I have ever dealt with on any home project. Jason and Eric essentially rebuilt my deck: new floorboards, moved my steps and made them more senior-friendly, and installed black, aluminum handrails that matched my front porch railing and backyard fence. It turned out perfectly and was exactly what I wanted! It is beautiful. They also installed a back door and repaired and wrapped (in vinyl) my basement door which had had wood rot. It looked like an entirely new door and frame. I just cannot recommend this company enough. Jason always called me and arrived exactly when he said he would, the workmanship was high quality, Jason and Eric were both so pleasant, friendly, and polite. They worked very efficiently and cleaned up after themselves each day. It was refreshing to deal with such a reliable, professional company that exhibited such an excellent work ethic. I will be using Installation Pro for my next project and you should too."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

For professional labor and materials, it would cost between $6,000 and $28,000 to install 1,000 square feet of Saltillo tile flooring. If that’s out of your budget, you could consider laying the tiles yourself or choosing a less expensive type of flooring. For example, vinyl flooring costs just $2 to $7 per square foot, so for a 1,000-square-foot space, you’d pay $2,000 to $7,000.

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

There are a few different tools you can use to score tiles. Manual tile cutters or tile scribes work well for scoring in straight lines. Tile nippers are one of the best options for scoring because they can make small and irregular cuts that larger tools may not be able to handle.

Like glass tiles, you will not need to seal most porcelain tiles, particularly if the porcelain is already glazed. It depends on quality. Porcelain is very water resistant, but it is not 100% waterproof. To avoid staining, some homeowners use a penetrating sealer. It is also a good idea to seal your grout. Unless you use epoxy grout, grout is very porous and can harbor bacteria, mold, and mildew.
