"The work that was completed was great. However, the issue that I had was, I wasn?t properly quoted a price for the installation of my sink. Sofia came to my home assessed the job that I needed done and gave me a price. They day of installation the price increased $200 because something she did not notice during the day of the assessment. I was not pleased with the way things were handled as far as pricing. Please beware that your price may increase. "

"L Collins Plumbing made our toilet replacement completely hassle-free, and we're thrilled with the result! He communicated clearly, worked with impressive efficiency, and the quality of the work is excellent. We especially appreciated that there was zero mess for us to clean up afterwards ? he took care of everything, including disposing of the old toilet and all the trash. Highly recommend L Collins for a job well done!"

I got into this business because my energy bill increased to a ridiculous amount and every time I asked nobody would tell me why. I finally found out why and I think you should know as well as be informed of opportunities to opt of of the high rate increases and begin a path to owning your power by going solar. Duke is going solar as well and when they do they will charge you and companies will charge even more because the demand will become higher so I feel it is only right that we share this opportunity to take a stand for your life and the generations after you to have even better opportunities than you and not have to worry about how they’re gonna pay their power bill. I’m interested in showing you how to lock in your bill at maybe 11 cents a kilowatt but it’s putting equity back into your home. Your solar is giving you electricity so yes you are paying for the solar panels but it’s a bill swap. Ownership of your power over an electric bill. You could pay for electricity the next 10 years and your money was going to someone else that whole time or you could be paying for your solar panels and they provide your energy to you.

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

The time it takes to install solar panels depends on the number of panels and the size of your home, but installation takes between two and three days of work. While most contractors can install the panels over the course of a couple of days, switching to solar energy can take two to three months in total. This includes the time it takes to design the system, procure the parts, obtain the permits, install the panels, connect to the main power grid, and get an inspection.

No, you cannot turn on a new solar system before inspection. The inspector checks that the system is correctly connected to the grid and that safety components and features are in place. This process prevents problems on the electrical grid and offers protection against fire in your home.

Your local utility company may also require inspection documentation before you can connect to the grid. An inspection can ensure solar power efficiency and determine how you might increase it.

Although solar panels harness the sun's power, they come at an environmental cost. The manufacturing process requires large amounts of water and involves hazardous materials like cadmium, silicon, and gallium arsenide. These materials don’t pose safety hazards while the panels are in use but can pose a problem when left in landfills. Over time, hazardous materials can leach into the environment. This is why recycling solar panels whenever possible is better than taking them to landfills.

The best way to save money on solar panels is to take advantage of federal and state solar incentives. For example, the solar investment tax credit (ITC) offered by the federal government can save 30% of your total—if you can take the entire credit, which is based on income taxes owed—or an average of around $9,000. You can check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) for state and local incentives that could save you even more.

The cost to install solar panels is around $27,000 on average, but you could pay between $4,500 and $54,000 or more, depending on a few factors. Some of the most influential cost factors for installing solar panels include the following:

  • Size of the system you need to offset your energy consumption

  • Amount of sunlight

  • Brand of solar panels

  • Add-on products, like solar batteries or electric vehicle (EV) chargers

  • Labor costs of the company

  • Home’s geographical location
