Customers say: Quick response

"They worked with the water heater people to make sure that that water heater was grounded safely. And they did a good job collaborating with them to make sure that they could get it installed. And then I appreciate the Explanation of how my electrical works that was funneled outside was actually not in code, and they updated to make sure that everything was safe in my little old house."

"E-A1 Pros did an excellent job with the installation of my pendent lights. They were professional when reaching out and provided confirmation of appointment. The technician was on time and very experienced. He ensured that I was happy with the lights while he was in the process so that he could adjust as needed. He even offered to take out the boxes, but I told it was not needed. I would definitely use them again for future projects!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The size of your home will help determine the size of your electrical panel. Usually, the decision comes down to a 100-amp electrical panel versus a 200-amp panel. Smaller homes, especially those without an HVAC system, may be able to get by with a 100-amp panel.

If you have a larger home or need to power AC, a 200-amp panel should be the best fit. It’s unlikely that you’ll need a larger panel than that unless you have a larger home or unique electrical needs, but an electrician can help you make the final call.

Yes, you can connect two extra outlets (or more) to one outlet if the total load on the circuit allows for it. If you have a 15-amp circuit, electrical code allows up to eight outlets or light switches. But if you’re dealing with outlets in the kitchen and bathroom, you may not be able to have as many. Kitchen and bathroom appliances often need higher amperage. You can also change a single outlet to a double outlet by cutting a larger hole in the drywall and replacing the outlet with a quad receptacle.

You can determine what size generator you need for a transfer switch by matching the switch to the largest outlet on your generator. Larger generators can power up to 10 circuits, while most 5,000-watt generators can provide power to six circuits. So, if your generator’s largest outlet is 30 amps, you’ll need a 30-amp transfer switch.

If one plug in your outlet works but the other doesn't, it could be due to a few reasons. The outlet might have a loose or damaged internal connection on the non-working side. Another possibility is that the outlet is a split receptacle, with one half controlled by a wall switch that might be turned off. Additionally, debris or damage inside the non-working plug could prevent a proper connection. If you can't identify the issue, remember to prioritize safety. Replace the outlet or consult a professional electrician to ensure safety and proper functionality.

You will need a permit for any electrical work that involves installing or replacing wiring, moving or installing new fixtures, switches, or outlets, hardwiring appliances or HVAC equipment, installing subpanels, and upgrading electrical service. You typically don’t need a permit to have an electrician replace an existing light fixture or electrical box. You can always call your local building department to see if your project needs a permit, but a professional electrician will be able to tell you. In most cases, your professional will pull the permits for you.
