"NVS just completed my patio paver project on our new house. Over the years I have hired many contractors for various projects. I place these guys at the top of my list. I can't say enough about the professional service, attention to detail, communication, and finish product. I couldn't be happier with my results. Martin, the owner, was involved every step of the way. His crew was outstanding, and the finished product beautiful. If hardscape is what your looking for, at a very fair price, with professional people and results, look no farther than Next Vision Services."

Pour day!
We are here a day after the pour pressure washing the stamped portion. A powder was put on top to darken and provide contrasting light and darks, some of which is getting washed off now.

Customers say: Quality work

"We live on a mountain with limited access, and needed two pads for carports and one pad for a barn. They did all the work they contracted, and went above and beyond with forming, pouring, grading, finishing, and cleaning up; all the details that make the job right. Chuck and Roland drive their trackhoe like they were born in it - they did things with their equipment that I didn't think were possible, and they were fast. Highly recommended; all our expectations were exceeded. We don't submit good reviews very often, but these guys are the best, and we would happily use them again."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

In Marion, NC, watch for standing water after rain, as it indicates poor drainage that can destroy the base. Alligator cracking patterns are a serious sign of base failure from moisture. Also, look for raveling on sloped driveways, which points to water runoff damage. Hairline cracks appearing in the fall or winter are an early warning of impending freeze-thaw damage.

Helpful?

For your asphalt driveway in Marion, you should have cold-weather crack sealer rated for temperatures down to 15°F to handle winter conditions. Keep a high-quality pothole patching compound for freeze-thaw damage and an acrylic-based sealcoating material, which performs well in the mountain climate. Squeegees and push brooms are also essential for removing standing water and preventing moisture penetration.

Helpful?

For asphalt paving in NC, a Superpave mix with a PG 64-22 binder is recommended to handle the state's temperature fluctuations. The base should be at least six inches of compacted gravel with four inches of asphalt. On steep driveways, Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) offers better durability. Using geotextile fabric underneath can also improve drainage in areas with poor soil.

Helpful?

When planning an asphalt paving project in Marion, design driveways with a 10-12 foot width to meet McDowell County emergency vehicle access requirements. Incorporate turnarounds for properties on steep grades. It's also wise to plan for future utility expansions, like septic or well water lines, by leaving access corridors. This foresight ensures future property modifications don't require expensive driveway alterations.

Helpful?

In Marion, NC, steep Blue Ridge foothills topography adds significant complexity to asphalt paving projects. Slopes over 8% require specialized drainage and terracing. The area's rocky, clay-heavy soil demands extensive base preparation to prevent settling. Furthermore, narrow mountain roads can limit equipment access, and the region's 45+ inches of annual rainfall necessitates robust water management solutions from the start.
