"We have evaluated foundations prior to repair and specified how the repair should be completed. After repairs are completed, we are often required to go back and verify that they have been completed correctly. We are pleased to say that Foundation Doctor does excellent work and are wonderful to work with."

"They had a drill malfunction and the supervisor, Craig Adams, expected me to clean up hundreds of grease spots off my porches and walls. He would not schedule a clean-up team to come back and clean the mess rather the technicians spent a few hours scrubbing the spots. However, they did not come up. The porches look considerably worse. Since that time, they have returned and made an effort to clean up the concrete. The front porch has now been completed, and they are returning tomorrow to work on the back porch."

"Josh is truly the best. I try to seek out the best for my area, and Josh with Saber concrete and foundations was the best. A portion of crack in garage floor had dropped as well as a couple sections of driveway with many cracks. Driveway and garage floor level and all cracks filled. Garage floor and driveway are both over 25 years old. The work he did will allow me to not worry about replacement for many years. He knows his business and provides exceltional work. Very responsive when needed. He's honest about the project and his crew are hard working. He cares about his customers. Good work is always my #1 concern and and was not disappointed. It was just an extra that he is also a very kind caring person. Good job Josh."

"Kalman and his crew did a great job on our driveway project. They were on time, started right away on prep work and were ready to pour the next day. Once everything dried, without delay, they were back to remove forms, cut expansion joints and clean up. I highly recommend Superior Concrete and will be using them for my upcoming projects."

Concrete Leveling questions, answered by experts

Most states and municipalities don’t require concrete mudjacking companies to carry a specific license, but they usually need to have a general contractor’s license, and they should be fully insured. The only exception is if the mudjacking company provides foundation repairs as well, or if it offers mudjacking for home foundations. In that case, they will typically need a foundation repair contractor’s license. You can check state requirements and then use Angi’s license lookup tool to confirm that a company is properly licensed to provide mudjacking services in your area.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Most houses are expected to settle over time, but foundation sinking of more than a few inches or uneven sinking of more than an inch for every 20 feet is cause for concern. Any significant or uneven sinking should be assessed by a professional to determine the cause and perform any necessary repairs.

It’s best not to perform mudjacking in the winter unless the ground temperature remains above freezing. Freezing temperatures can cause the slurry to harden too quickly, compromising its strength and longevity. Concrete is also more susceptible to cracking and splitting in cold temperatures, so there’s a higher risk of damaging the slab during the drilling and lifting process in winter.

Mudjacking typically takes 24 to 72 hours (one to three days) to dry and cure completely before you can resume normal use. The total drying time can vary depending on the size of the project. Because the slurry mixture contains cement, it needs to harden fully to prevent the concrete slab from shifting under added weight. You should avoid walking on the concrete or placing heavy items like furniture or vehicles on the surface until it has fully set. Your concrete contractor can provide a precise timeline. As a point of comparison, if you opt for polyjacking, the polyurethane foam can dry in minutes, but it's recommended to wait about an hour before use.
