Anything from painting to roofing to complete remodels to building additions or anything

"Jeff Mclawhorn did construction to my business without getting the correct permits. Luckily, it ended up working out in my favor. When I had him do lighting work for me, he took the money and never completed the work. He disappeared for months, swore to send me a check for reimbursement for the work that was paid for and then disappeared. He never provided written quotes or receipts for work, and requested payment be made in cash. Avoid at all costs."

My primary business is consulting on buildings that have construction defects that allow moisture intrusion, rot, mold, etc. I also work with builders on new buildings to assist in the sequencing and selection of products to prevent moisture intrusion, promote long-term building performance, ie., concrete curing, roof flashing, window and door installation, moisture barriers, basement waterproofing, etc.

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Greenville roofs benefit from semi-annual inspections, especially after heavy storms. Clean gutters regularly to prevent water backup, and trim overhanging branches to reduce debris and moss growth. Before hurricane season, secure loose shingles and check flashing for gaps. Watch for signs of algae, particularly on shaded sections, and ensure attic ventilation is functioning to prevent moisture buildup. Schedule professional roof inspections after major weather events.

Helpful?

Be wary of roofing pros in Greenville who offer vague roof replacement estimates, request full payment upfront, or lack proof of insurance. Avoid contractors who suggest skipping permits or can’t provide local references. Out-of-town crews appearing after storms are a common concern. Reliable pros will clearly outline materials, warranties, and timelines, and maintain open communication throughout your roof repair or installation project.

Helpful?

In Greenville, roof edges, ridge lines, and south-facing slopes often require roof repair after storms due to wind exposure. North-facing areas and shaded spots under trees are prone to algae and moss. Valleys and low-pitch sections may develop leaks from standing water. Pay close attention to flashing around chimneys and vents, as well as gutter attachment points, since these areas are especially vulnerable to moisture and weather damage.

Helpful?

When hiring roofing pros in Greenville, look for specialists experienced with roof repair and replacement after severe storms, as local weather can be intense. Ask about their knowledge of materials that resist algae and moss, common in Greenville’s humid climate. Verify they carry proper insurance, hold local permits, and can provide recent references from Greenville homeowners to ensure quality workmanship and a strong reputation.

Helpful?

In Greenville, plan roof repair or replacement projects outside peak hurricane months to avoid weather delays. Choose roofing materials proven to withstand high humidity and wind, such as algae-resistant shingles or metal panels. Confirm your contractor understands local permit and wind-resistance requirements. If your property has mature trees, consider scheduling tree trimming to prevent debris, and coordinate with utility companies if solar panel installation is involved.
