"We like trees. When we moved to Hillsborough recently we loved our new house but unlike most houses in the neighborhood, the lot had no trees or shrubery except around the foundation. Alan Artz at Lemonade Landscaping assisted us in choosing two 14 foot maples, a crape myrtle, three boxwoods, and three large hollies for the front yard and a privacy screen. Throughout the process, he communicated and updated us regarding the plants and the timeline. The quality of all the trees was excellent, as . The planting process was uneventful and he took great care to avoid damage to existing lawn and other plants and to clean up afterwards. The price was competitive with other estimates. No stress and no mess! We have additional landscaping ideas and goals for our property and Alan at Lemonade Landscaping will be our go-to contractor. We recommend him with no reservations but lots of enthusiasm!"

"They did a fantastic job cleaning up my garden beds and my vegetable garden. They went above and beyond and blew off my driveway and picked up the sticks and branches. I’m very happy. I will definitely be using them in the future and would recommend them."

"My experience with Groundshapers has been excellent. When Radley came out to inspect my yard & driveway, he was very thorough & knowledgeable about what would be required to correct the issues & complete the job according to my wishes. He is very professional, but also very personable. He truly desires to do a job at the highest standard & he succeeds at it. He is conscientious & has even stopped by a few times after completing the job to ensure that the issues & problem areas are truly fixed. I definitely recommend him!"

Lawn Care FAQs, answered by experts

No, grass pavers don’t require a lot of maintenance. However, you’ll need to keep the grass in between the pavers trimmed down just like you would with your lawn.

Ultimately, pulling weeds vs. spraying them depends on what’s happening in your yard and your personal preferences. Manual weed removal doesn’t introduce any chemicals into your landscape, targets specific problematic plants, produces immediate results, can be free if you go the DIY route, and is inexpensive with a weed service if you only have a handful of weeds. On the other hand, spraying is often preferable for severe weed infestations and situations involving difficult-to-pull weeds because it treats multiple weeds at once, is usually more effective long-term, is less time-consuming, and costs less when done by a pro.

If the grass is dead, you cannot bring it back to life. However, you can grow new grass in its place or try the methods mentioned above to revive the grass if it isn’t entirely dead. You can expect St. Augustine grass to come back after moderate droughts, but it will suffer significant nutrient loss after an extended period of drought.

Post-dethatching, lawn recovery includes watering, fertilizing, and reseeding as necessary to restore health and promote growth.

As a beginner, start by mowing your lawn in symmetrical rows by turning the mower at the end of each row and overlapping with the previous row. Use an edging tool or weedwacker to make your lawn look sharp and crisp around the edges, and then sweep the debris back into the yard. Take it slow, and know that you can adjust your approach or pattern the next time your grass needs a clip.
