"Can not put into words how highly I recommend Olivers Removal Service! They came today after I inquired just yesterday for yard removal quotes. These guys are amazing! Fair pricing, fun to talk to, and generally care about their customers. They were here for brush and carpet removal in the yard but helped clean out trash in an old vehicle and did a lot of heavy lifting and cleaned a porch off free of charge just to help! Not many people do that. They listened, understood, and made me feel comfortable letting them in my house. Heard my story and reassured me that my house and generally my life is fixable. Their help jumped started the removal of junk, the cleaning process of getting my house back in order for construction to begin and gave me a feeling of accomplishing something that has been lacking for a while. Price was affordable and will use them again. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart"

"We were extremely pleased with the efficient and friendly service provided by Choim Landscaping. The removal of our old television and recliner sofa was performed efficiently and with great care to avoid any damage to the floor or carpet. They also moved a new sofa into place with great care, making sure that it was properly situated. We will definitely consider this firm if we need removal services in the future."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

If lead is detected in a property, steps should include arranging for professional removal or containment, notifying all occupants, and implementing interim safety measures to reduce exposure.

Lead toxicity comes from inhaling lead or consuming it. Before the 1980s, when the government banned lead from consumer use, it could be found in paint, plumbing, pipes, ceramics, and even gasoline. Lead paint is toxic for the same reason lead itself is toxic, which is why lead poisoning from paint presents the same as lead poisoning from water or food sources, with a slight increase in respiratory symptoms vs. digestive symptoms. Lead paint is most dangerous when it’s old and peeling, cracking, or otherwise disturbed. This increases the concentration in the air and, therefore, in breathable air.

Some companies offer hazardous waste removal, but additional fees and special handling procedures may be required.

No. Standard homeowners insurance does not cover any kind of lead remediation, focusing instead on sudden, unpreventable events like fires and theft. Many insurance companies will specifically exclude lead paint removal, since it tends to be an expensive and unavoidable project. The exception is if the lead surface is damaged during a covered event (like a flood) and homeowners insurance pays its replacement.
