"This was my first major home improvement project, and I was nervous going in. Mollie and Catalino were exceptionally polite, professional, and patient, working with me every step of the way and ensuring I knew what was going on. My new deck looks great, and I'm very pleased with their work."

"It was a pleasure to work with Ryan in the scheduling and construction of the pergola. Ryan was able to get us in very quickly, and work around our schedule when we ran into some last minute issues. He was great with communication and would always double check before going further. The attention to detail was great, and after we had a chance to look over everything he came back to make sure it was all up to par. He would listen to what you wanted, and make suggestions based off of experience along the way, which is what I look for in a construction specialist. I will for sure be calling him when I need things done around the house. Would recommend to friends and family."

Customers say: True professional

"At the end of the kitchen remodel Walt did to our complete satisfaction, Walt and the countertop guy worked to figure out if we could use the unused quartz for two new vanities. They worked it out and we are very happy with the results. Walt and his workers are very conscientious and extremely clean - almost no dust after all the demolition for both the bathroom and kitchen. Highly recommended!"

"I’m so glad I found Vivid Homes for a remodel, Rich went above and beyond with every request. I would refer friends and family this company. His price was in between some of my quotes but reading customer reviews sold me in this company. I will be using him again. -Chad C"

"I needed new floors put down in my kitchen and Jake battled the bad weather and got the job done and done very well I might add, he even found an electrical issue with my dishwasher when he pulled it out and fixed it at no extra charge. Excellent workmanship and professionalism. I will definitely be using him again for future projects. Highly recommend!"

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Modular homes last an average of between 50 and 75 years, and high-quality modular homes can last for 100 years with proper maintenance. For comparison, a standard home lasts 50 to 100 years and can push to 150 or longer with good maintenance. Modular homes provide better long-term value in that they are significantly more affordable and can last almost as long, but some buyers are wary of modular home longevity, so the actual value if you sell could be lower.

Yes, you can finance new construction, though the process often requires a different type of loan than one for an existing property. There are several financing options available:

  • Construction-to-Permanent Loan: This is a common option where a single loan covers the building costs and then converts into a traditional mortgage once construction is complete and you move in.

  • Construction Loan (Stand-Alone): This type of loan provides funding only for the duration of the construction project. Once the house is built, you will need to pay the loan in full, typically by securing a separate, standard mortgage.

  • Builder Financing: Some custom homebuilders offer their own financing options, which may only require a down payment to begin the building process.

  • Bridge Loan: This can be a useful short-term loan to fund your new construction while you are in the process of selling your old home.

  • Home Equity Options: If you are building a second home, you might be able to use a home equity line of credit (HELOC) or a cash-out refinance on your current property.

It's also important to be aware that some lenders may have restrictions on financing for DIY house builds, so be sure to verify that you can secure financing before starting your project.

Yes, modular homes offer a wide range of customization options for layout, finishes, and features.

Modular homes can be a great investment, especially for those who find the prices of stick-built real estate too high. Modular homes are usually much more affordable because they’re mass-manufactured and then assembled on-site or delivered mostly assembled. If they’re installed properly and by professionals, they can last for between 50 and 100 years, potentially making them an outstanding investment.

Ultimately, a work warranty is only as reliable as the contractor you’ve hired. That’s why trust and reputation are such important factors, in addition to having a solid contract and confirming appropriate licensing, insurance, and bonding. When looking for a contractor, it’s a good idea to read online reviews and ratings to see what kind of experience past customers have had. Issues with your contractor can make for an unsatisfying renovation process, but a reliable contractor can make the process go as smoothly as possible.
