"This was a great experience from the first interaction to last. The Yellow Crew, Alan, Jacobo, Mauricio ( the workers) were amazing. Their foreman, Tommy and Michael DeMasi, the foundation specialist, were excellent. Everyone was punctual. They kept us informed all along the way. Price was reasonable for scope of work. I would definitely recommend this company!"

"We can’t say enough good things about Bay Crawlspace. We had Jamie come by for a free consultation and we couldn’t be more pleased. He was patient, kind and very informative. He knew this was a costly project for us and helped us really understand what we needed. The installation crew was phenomenal. The site was never left a mess they even swept areas of the garage that they didn’t mess up. The whole process took about 3 days to complete and we were kept in the loop the entire time. The site supervisor stopped by and talked to us and he also let us know how things were progressing. We needed to have some piping move and they were able to give me a name of a plumber that could do the job quickly so we could continue. From sales, masonry, installation and jacking up the project was a success. Being a REALTOR® I would definitely recommend them in the future. If you have crawl space issue, do yourself a favor and give Bay Crawl a call. Jamie, Radames, Chris A, Elgin, Tucker & Gary from the bottom of our heart we thank you all for a job well done Stephen & Susan Flippin Gloucester, VA"

"We had had Jason do four major projects for us and we could not be happier. They are the best on the beach. We have several more projects we are going to have them do."

"My home has a chimney that was unsafe to use (cracked masonry liner). I dreaded the time and cost of a tear down and replacement. I contacted "Shamrock Chimney" and scheduled an appointment with their lead technician "Tony". He suggested a less costly and safer alternative (steel liner and a resealing of the outer brickwork. The work was performed over a two-day period. I am fully satisfied with the results. One thing I really apricate is the communication during the project. The "front office" would let me know by either phone or email when the project would start, and then Tony and would give me updates. All and all the whole process went smoothly. Also, this was my first time with "Angi", I hope to use their services again in the future."

"The work went extremely well.  As the job progressed he offered suggestions on how to make the overall job better,  Mike suggested a change in the stairway railing construction which turned out amazing.  He also suggested the crows nest deck railing system be changed to a custom made wood painted system because of the uniqueness of the location.  We decided to add painting all the house trim and fascia after the work started.  Mike seamlessly took on this addon.  Based on the emailed pictures the house looks outstanding.  He takes pride in his workmanship.  Mike is also diligent on project cost control.  He got competitive bids on the "Tamrail" deck railing system and achieved significant cost savings.  Overall the project is on time and under budget.   We have subsequently asked Mike to do a couple more smaller maintenance and upgrade projects.  Mike says he doesn't necessarily do the job the easy way, but rather he does it the right way.   We highly recommend Mike...he was a pleasure to work with.

Masonry questions, answered by experts

You can hang holiday lights on brick without drilling by using hot glue, outdoor tape, or brick clips for your project. There are plenty of alternatives to consider, so consult a professional Christmas light installer to discuss the best options to preserve your brick exterior.

Certain towns and homeowner associations (HOAs) ban brick mailboxes because of the risk of obstruction. They are sometimes only permitted in cases where four or more homes share a mailbox. Homeowners may need to obtain special permits in some locations. One of the top masonry contractor hiring tips is to ask a local pro if they can show you examples of recent work that meets local code regulations.

Mortar and thinset both serve the same purpose—tile adhesion—but have different compositions and use-cases. Thinset is heatproof and presents a wide range of possibilities due to the added polymers. Mortar is typically used for bonding stones and brick. Thinset is rarely used outside, while mortar is rarely used inside.

If your old bricks are in decent condition and you have the space to store them where they’ll be protected from the elements, keeping old bricks is often worthwhile. You’d spend anywhere from $70 to a few hundred dollars to have them removed from your property, in which case you won’t be able to use them for future projects. Holding on to old bricks in good condition means you can use them later for other DIY projects, potentially saving yourself some money on disposal and new materials down the road.

Two types of masonry are veneer masonry and solid masonry. Veneer masonry is thin brick or stone material attached to the face of a building. With veneer masonry, the walls support the weight of the masonry products rather than the masonry being built on a concrete footing. Solid masonry is a wall or other brick or stone structure built on a concrete footing, and the masonry supports itself.
