"Very well. His initial visit and presentation was excellent. He had a card, told me what he could do and made an appointment to do it. He showed up on time, put down plywood so he wouldn't hurt the grass, did the work of cutting down and removing the trees, and cleaned everything up after he and his crew were done. I would use him again."

"Terrible. First off, I have no idea how this man Richard Carlson's business got so many positive reviews on this page. I can only assume he has lots of friends and family. I know that he will come on here and deny everything I say.... But please remember, that is his job.. I did not know this man before I hired him, so I have no axe to grind. This is only the truth of the job he did for us. It was horrible. The biggest mistake I made is I paid him in full and should never have done that. Yes I know that was dumb on my part -lesson learned. If you do hire him, please don't pay him till after you have reviewed everything in the light of day. He promised me a job well done, he said he cared about his clients and wanted to do a good job. What he actually did is charge us $3,000 and basically brought in mulch and 11 small plants and threw a few stepping stones in the mulch and called it a day. He promised to come back and finish the job. HE NEVER HAS. He first came and gave me an estimate and we made adjustments. Our house was fine but hurricane Florence destroyed our yard. I told him what I wanted. Evergreen plants, clean up, mulching and reworking several beds and different areas. And a walkway. I wanted a beautiful walkway where I used to have shrubs and trees. He agreed to everything and said that he understood. When I showed him the walkway I wanted -he said, well that will be more expensive,- I said that's fine, give me a new estimate which he did. I paid the adjusted new estimate with the walkway included. I never got the walkway. What I got was some random Stepping Stones thrown in the mulch. He tried to tell me it was "micommunication", even tried to make it my fault, explaining to my husband "well as I tried to explain to your wife" ?... . But apparently he forgot that both myself and my husband were there for the second walkthrough to make sure we were clear on everything to be done and all on the same page. But just be clear, I didn't "tell him what I wanted" I walked him over to the other side of the yard which already had a walkway and SHOWED him. And said "I want exactly this, -not 'like this, not something like this'.... but exactly this". I'm not sure how much more clear I could be. If this webpage allows me to put up the pictures I will. They finished the job in the dark. I didn't get to see it until the next morning. Both my husband and myself were completely taken back by it. It was not what we had asked for. We were not happy with it and expressed that to him. He came back out and assured us that he wanted to make us happy. He assured us that he would be back out to finish the job. He also did not grind down a stump and chase the roots as he had promised he would... He kept saying the machine was broke and he'd be back out as soon as it was fixed. He lied straight to our faces. For the next two weeks we texted him and called him to try to find out when he was coming back. He would told us "you are on the schedule probably next week"... It's now been over a month and he no longer even responds to my husband's text messages or calls. All I can say is that for us, he did a horrible job, left the job unfinished, lied to our faces, and never came back to finish the job or make things right. But he took our check and cashed it immediately. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! In the pictures below the double flagstone walkway is what I wanted. (Duplicate of what I already have in the back yard.) What I got was the stepping stones thrown in the mulch picture. The other picture shows how the shrubs were just thrown in the corner. Not lined up. He said he didn't see it...(shouldn't a landscaper have an eye for that?) And as I said, yes I expect him to come on here and deny all of this or make excuses for it. Again that's his job... what else is he going to say? I have text messages to prove that we were unhappy and he promised to make it right and never followed through. After I left a review on Google they replied and said they wanted to make it right please email or call. I did both and still a month later no response."

Yes, you will want to confirm that the tree removal company you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. Tree removal can be dangerous work, and it's important to verify that the company carries the proper insurance to cover any onsite accidents or damage.

On average, removing a tree costs around $750, but you can expect to pay between $200 to $2,000. Factors that impact the overall cost include the number of trees you’re having removed, their height, the diameter of their trunks, permits needed, and the tree’s accessibility. You’ll pay more if the tree is in a hard-to-reach area or dangerous location, like close to power lines.

The cost varies depending on a number of factors, including the size of the tree, location, accessibility, whether or not the stump is also being removed, and other environmental factors.
Answered by Elan Flores at Flores Artscape in Los Angeles, CA on 01/07/25
Each tree is different, and costs can vary widely based on factors including tree size, hardness of wood, difficulties caused by location of the tree and proximity to nearby structures and objects, inherent risk involved in specific removals (e.g. rotten sections of trunk), requirements of dealing with municipalities and local governments for tree removal permits, and the methods employed by the tree worker to remove your tree.
A single tree could cost as low as $100 to remove or $10,000 dollars or more depending on these factors. It is also important to keep in mind that many companies have a minimum price to come out and do work or even give quotes.

If there are no online reviews, ask them for referrals. If a tree removal company is reputable, you won't be their first client. It's perfectly acceptable to ask for references on your initial call, and if a removal company won't provide referrals, it's time to move on.
Find out what equipment they use. Some types of tree removal equipment are better than others, and a removal company might need special tools to get your particular job done. On your first conversation with a prospective removal company, make sure that you clearly express the nature of the job you want accomplished and receive assurances that the company has the proper equipment.
Consider all of the costs. Always ask for an estimate up-front. Inquire about the job itself and any potential hidden fees that you might not be aware of.

To have a fallen tree removed near your home, you can expect to pay between $100 to $500. Your local tree removal professional will most likely just need to cut and remove the tree from your property, but factors like the size of the tree and its trunk diameter impact this cost. In addition, there will be an extra cost to fill in the hole left by the tree, and while you have your tree removal specialist on-site, it might be worth it to have them inspect the other trees in your yard for potential damage. Trees that have fallen onto your home or another structure, will likely be more costly to remove.

The minimum cost is $500 to $1,000, as disposal of tree debris is between $200 and $300 per load.
Answered by Jeff Searles at Lakeshore Tree Care in Chanhassen, MN on 01/08/25
Costs can range from $500 up to $2,000, on average. It depends on the size of the tree, the location, accessibility, if there are hazardous conditions surrounding the tree and the environment, and if other work is being done on the property along with fallen tree removal.
Answered by Elan Flores at Flores Artscape in Los Angeles, CA on 01/07/25
It really depends on if it's just lying on the ground or if it fell on a structure. The cost could be anywhere from $500 to $10,000. There's a wide price range because some fallen trees are really easy to remove, while others are very difficult and require a crane.
Answered by Kenneth Kirlin at Carolina Tree Trimmers LLC in Summerville, SC on 01/06/25
You can expect to pay about $1,000 to $4,000 to have a fallen tree removed. Trees that have fallen require more labor to remove than one that's standing.
Answered by Jeremiah Erickson at Chameleon Property Services LLC in Albany, NY on 01/13/25
Budget over $1,500 if you need a tree removed from your yard that’s larger than 80 feet. Large tree removal is a significant project that requires a crane, and the overall price will increase if the tree is close to your house. Typically, smaller trees can cost as low as $8 per foot to remove, while larger trees (over 80 feet) can cost at least $15 per foot.
