"The manager at A.L. Odom managed to squeeze me in on the same day I phoned so I didn't have to leave my house unsecured with a broken lock for another night. The techs very courteously phoned to say they were on the way. They worked very efficiently and did a great job on the install as well as cleaning up the mess from the wood door cutting and drilling. They also didn't try to sell me more than I needed. The final cost even came in a few dollars under the estimate. Very professional and courteous company. I will use them again!"

Yes, with better technology now available, it’s possible to add a smart lock on your sliding glass door. If you’ve experienced multiple lockouts in the past year, or your lock is responding slower than usual after you key in the passcode, it might be time to upgrade to a newer one. Even if your lock is working fine, you should still change your access code at least twice a year.

Over time, latch components may wear out or get grimy, leading to this problem. First, check for dirt, dust, or debris in the latch mechanism to ensure smooth operation. Use an aerosol duster and lubricant to clean and loosen. You may also need to tighten the screws in the component, adjust the strike plate, or replace the lock. If none of these steps resolve the problem, consult a professional locksmith.

You may be able to get a broken key out of a lock by yourself, depending on the situation. If a portion of the key is still protruding from your lock, try lubricating the keyway and using pliers or even a bobby pin to pull the key out of the hole. If you have jigsaw blades handy, you can also try using those to grab onto the stuck key and pull it out. 

But, if neither option works or you can’t reach the key, your only option is to call a locksmith for help.
