Carpet Installation
We had an unfortunate carpet installation with the West Asheville Lowe's on Smoky Park Hwy. We purchased close to $10,000 of carpet and it was installed by Shawn Gandert from Lowe's installing department.
We had the install scheduled several days prior to moving into our new house. The first attempt revealed carpet of two different tones. The rolls of carpet did not match.
The second attempt with new carpet seemed to install ok but the whole ordeal delayed us from moving in at our desired time.
Long story short, I discovered I was pregnant, had a baby and all the while kept noticing "bubbles" forming under our carpet. Not just small bubbles but long snake like bubbles - like someone had put rolled up towels under our carpet - all over the house! There were bubbles in our bedroom, bubbles up both sets of stairs, bubbles in both guest rooms, bubbles in the hallway, bubbles in my office.
Meanwhile, I was busy recovering from a C-section and taking care of a newborn so I didn't report it to Lowe's right away. I mean surely they would fix this crap as able to deal with moving all our furniture - right???
Nope. Apparently, I was past their 1-year warranty deadline when I went in to the store to complain. I was armed with pictures and the flooring help desk looked appalled at the mess. One of them said there was "no way carpet should bubble up like that" and the other said Shawn Gandert was fired but being a terrible installer.
I went round and round with management and didn't get anywhere.
Next, we hired a carpet stretcher to come stretch the carpet. He said the carpet was not installed properly and that we would likely face the problem again. He stretched the carpet and it looked great, for about a year.
Now here I am again with bubbles in the bedroom, stairs, guest rooms and office. When we re-floored the lower level of our house there was NO WAY IN **** I was going to call Lowes. So I went through Home Depot and the carpet looks great - one year in and no bubbles.
I asked the Home Depot installer to take a look at all the new bubbles in our upstairs carpet. He said the upstairs carpet from Lowe's was not installed properly and with that, he bent down, pinched the carpet and lifted nearly all the carpet in our bedroom off the subfloor - he then said that isn't supposed to happen!
So I'll leave you with this - don't get carpet from Lowe's. If you do need carpet - try Home Depot - they did a all-around much better job for us.

It is very close to my house. The supplies were fine. The carpenter seemed to be happy with them. Their customer service was very good. We had to go through a couple of pieces of wood that weren't perfect, to get the good ones. I would definitely use them again.

The salesman was excellent. He knew his carpet inventory and went the distance to get me the best deal possible and the quickest installation. He advised me to wait a few days for an unannounced sale. I did and saved 20% and then Lowe's honored my 10% military discount on top of that. This is something Home Depot refused to do.
The independent carpet installer did a marvelous job.
I could not be more pleased.
Thank you Lowe's!

Ceiling Fan Service
The guy had to come in here. I have a very high ceiling and it's like 2 floors up. It was our Christmas present and someone recommended to put a fan up there. I am happy with the fan. The guy was really nice. He cleaned up his work. He was pleasant and professional to talk to. He didn't leave any stray marks. It looks like it was put in when the house was built. I went to the other place and they didn't have anybody to install the fan. They have to call out and get somebody independent. I couldn't get it done at the other place. So I went to Lowe's and I was very satisfied. They were very professional. I am going back to them.

We were in Lowe's everyday last week. We have done a lot of remodeling recently. Lowe's had great customer service and anything we did not use we could return with no problem.

Door Service
I give them very high marks. They were great. I got a new front door and a new back door. It works perfectly, it is gorgeous and I am happier than I could say. They did a really good job. The door jam was slightly off and they worked and worked on it to make it fit.

Lowe's is closest to us and easiest to access for our home improvement needs. They did neat work. They expressed some of our own concerns about the quality of the wood they had to install which seemed to have an excessive amount of knots. They came when they said they were going too. We were happy with what they had done.

They contract out work to people. They did a pretty good job and their product was good too. The people that I worked with were kind of average, though. Some of the workers were not up to par.
