"ADT is the best company to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

"Great honest contractors. They did my bathrooms, hot water heater, unclogged my house drain and they did a French drain so my basement is not wet anymore. I already hired them to do my whole roof in the spring. I will hire them anytime."

"When I locked my keys in my car and couldn't get any other locksmith to answer the phone he drove almost an hour and a half to come unlock my car for me and he spoke to me very respectful the entire time. Would definitely recommend."

"The service provided by CSI Secure Solutions was second to none. From the start the team was professional, diligent and tenacious in their quest for answers. This was not an easy case but Chris and his team went above and beyond the call of duty. "***UPDATE: Following this review the owner of the company contacted me directly with his cell phone number and we discussed the issues. He is working towards finding out where things are falling through the cracks and going to fix the problems. He is making things right with me, so I am revising my ratings. Given in the past everything had been so wonderful, it appears there are problems that have come up but the owner is now on them. Hopefully the particular contractor they were using gets fired and they find another good technician like my original one, Kurt, was. Based on my talk with the owner, I would still recommend this company to others but encourage that they follow up if they have any issues like I had. If people that can make a difference don't know about the problems, they will never get fixed.***

This experience was a surprise to be due to the amazing service I previously had with this company. The local tech that installed my system and was amazing has since moved and they no longer have technicians in the area and instead use contractors. My experience began with the main station setting up an appointment for a technician to come replace the sensor. The appointment came and went and nobody showed up and nobody called to let me know otherwise. I had a window of time that I stayed home waiting which turned out to be a waste of 3 hours. I called the number on my panel and they didn't show any record of the previously made appointment and said they would look into it and let me know what happened and that they would have their contractor call to make an appointment the following day and promised it would get done before I left for vacation. Nobody ever called until about 2 weeks later. It was the contractor and we set up an appointment. Again, no one showed up and no one called. When I called their office all I got was an answering machine so I called Security One back again. I was told that he would look into it and would call me back as soon as he knew something. Security One never called back, but long after my appointment the contractor called to tell me the technician had a blow out and would not be able to make it and said he would have his office call the next day to reschedule. The next day came and went with no phone call. They did eventually call back and we scheduled another appointment. That appointment time came and no one showed. I called Security One and Brent who told me I could call him directly was gone for the day so I left a message for him to call me back the following day so we could discuss the issue again and let him know the technician had not showed up for the appointment again. The technician did show up finally, however late. He could then not test the sensor because no one in the office would answer the phone and told me he would call in an hour so we could test it while on the phone. The technician never called back to test it. Brent, never called me back either. All this for what took the technician less than 5 minutes of work. Wasted 6+ hours of my time not including all the phone calls. Security One has done nothing about this experience except continue to ignore my concerns. This saddens me since Kurt (my original technician was amazing). I pay for the warranty so that these issues get taken care of, however I am paying for a headache. If the alarm goes off, yes the response is good. Technical service is no longer even sub par. If I had know this was going to be the case when I had problems with my system I would have never gone with Security One. I have recommended them in the past and a neighbor now uses them as well."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Whether or not keyless door locks are safe and trustworthy depends on the visibility of the programming code—and a trespasser’s determination. Even if you carefully guard entry and programming codes, those trying to break in may be able to crack open the lock’s faceplate with a screwdriver and change the codes. The same goes for manual models.

Some find smart locks the safest option because it’s harder to manipulate codes without access to your phone. But it’s possible to get hacked even then. Consider installing an extended security system, like door and window alarms or surveillance cameras, to enhance security.

Keyless locks are great for convenience, letting you unlock doors with a code or your phone so you don't need to carry keys around. They also often come with helpful features like temporary codes for guests. On the downside, they can be more costly up front and do require batteries that will eventually need replacing. If you value ease of use and additional security features, keyless locks are worth the investment.

Lock picking is a relatively subtle method of unauthorized access, making it hard to detect. But there are telltale signs to look for. First, look for scratches or tool marks around the keyhole or the lock's surface. Also, check for loose or misaligned components, like a wonky strike plate, which could indicate tampering. Consulting a locksmith or security professional for an assessment can provide valuable insights, too. Investing in high-quality locks and considering additional security measures, like security cameras, can help deter potential intruders and enhance your overall safety.

As with any computer, smart locks can be hacked by someone with the technical skills to do so, but most people do not have that ability, making smart locks relatively safe. If you have any concerns about a compromised smart lock, opt for an encrypted smart lock, change your Wi-Fi password, and make sure that you only give out your password to trusted family and friends.

Find a vetted and trusted locksmith to work on your home so you can feel comfortable and safe. Hire a professional with these qualifications:

  • Search a verified directory of locksmiths near you, like those on Angi.

  • Check for an Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA) logo on their website or company logo.

  • Read company reviews. You can also check their social media pages.

  • Ask for a pro’s credentials, insurance, licensure, and customer testimonials.

  • Check if the locksmith is knowledgeable about various topics, from decorative locks to the newest technologies on the market.
