"Great Job! Made my carpet look like I'd never thought it would again. I was surprised at how clean my carpet was. Matt did an excellent job. I told some of my neighbors and he made time to remove some stains they had on their carpets. They were pleased as well. I will use this company again and will tell other friends, family, and neighbors about Steam-Source."

"Very professional and great manners. He cleaned my area rug and it looks was brand new. I was about to give up on it and replace, but found him and he saved me a lot of money. He did it in a timely manner. I highly recommend him before you decide to buy upholstery , carpet or rug. You will save money"

"Fast, carpet replacement for the whole house was done for 4 hours. Good value, less expensive than other contenders. Our representative Howard Naylor from Empire was very customer dedicated and professional, we really appreciate it. Highly recommended."

"Everyone involved was very polite and professional. They showed up when they said they would. The work however did take much longer than I had expected (9 days) as I only had them remove wallpaper, paint , remove carpet and put down flooring in 2 5x10 bathrooms. They also had to remove popcorn ceiling in one of the bathrooms. I think what took longer , was the fact that they had to redo and correct mistakes along the way. Perhaps if things had been done correctly the first time, it wouldn't of taken so long. They did try very hard to make things right. I will agree with other reviewers that they are more expensive as well."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Installing carpet padding is mostly a matter of measuring the room and cutting the carpet pad to size with a utility knife. You can save some money on carpet installation costs by doing it yourself. Before installing the carpet padding, you should install the tack strips around the room’s perimeter and prepare the subfloor by cleaning and making any necessary repairs. Then, unroll the carpet pad and cut sections as needed. Staple the carpet pad to the subfloor along the edges, leaving the tack strips exposed.

Yes, carpet tiles are easy to install—even if you don’t have much DIY experience. In fact, the simple installation process is one of the main reasons that people choose carpet tiles over traditional carpet. Since carpet tiles come in individual squares, they aren’t as heavy or awkward to install as regular carpet. Plus, you don’t need specialized equipment (like knee kickers or carpet stretchers) when installing carpet tiles.

Installing carpet on stairs involves a lot more cutting, tucking, tack strips, and time. The shape of your staircase, along with the material and construction of the carpet you’re installing, will also increase the cost. Carpet installation on stairs will cost $400 to $800 in total, but it can go as high as $2,500 for difficult staircases, such as wrap-around, upholstered, or spiral staircases.

Several types of flooring can be installed over existing tile, provided the current tiles are in good condition. Options include vinyl, vinyl plank, laminate, engineered wood, hardwood, carpet, and cork. Among these, various types of vinyl and engineered wood are the most common choices due to their versatility. Alternatively, you can install new tiles on top of your current ones if you like tile floors but want to update the look. Before proceeding with any new flooring, it's crucial to ensure your existing tiles are not damaged; otherwise, they will need to be removed first.

If you don’t put padding under your carpet, the carpet won’t be protected from wear on the underside. This could result in a shorter life span for your carpet and increased carpet repair costs over time. An unpadded carpet can also be less comfortable to walk on, depending on your subfloor and the type of carpet.
