"i did not hire Tim's company in the end ---- he was going to seed my lawn I hired a company that would work with me for gardening and weeding and lawn service, edging, mowing when asked, and treating both front and back lawns with amendments in an ongoing manner. Working every Tues to bring my property up to standards. Carolina Green could not provide a follow-up lawn service (but they are great installers of seeded or sodded lawns, and very experienced. Quite busy also!"

"I wanted to install a patio around my existing screened in porch using pavers. Alex responded very quickly to the project request and was able to come to the house within a day or so to review what I wanted and to provide a quote. He was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything in a clear/concise manner as well as making a couple of suggestions for a more cohesive look. Once scheduled, Alex and team showed up on time, worked throughout each day with only a lunch break, and completed the job within 2 days. The finished patio/rock area is well done and beautiful. I would use Silva Landscapes again and highly recommend them for any project!! Thank you Silva Landscapes!!"

"Brandon and Thomas and their crew provided exceptional service. We live on an island in NC very near sea level. We had a serious storm water problem, with standing water after a big rain, as well as runoff from adjoining property. We also have two driveways that required an extensive paving job. We contacted several landscapers for estimates. Brandon and Thomas met with us in person and provided us with a detailed estimate that we thought was very fair. They scheduled a starting date and told us how long the job would take. The job was started on time and ended exactly as promised, despite some minor snags. It was a delight to have the crew on our property. They were very careful to disturb only areas that are necessary, the job site was cleaned up every evening, and the yard was leveled and raked when they left. They also went out of their way to get the special rocks for the garden from a gravel company that was much farther away. Now for the pavers: a culvert was incorporated under the driveway and Brandon helped us pick the paver color and design. The extensive project takes up almost our entire front yard and it is gorgeous! We get compliments from everyone who sees it. We could not be more pleased!! An excellent job, on time-on budget, friendly professional crew, water flooding fixed, and amazing esthetics! We could not wish for more."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

If you miss the perfect time frame to trowel finish concrete, you likely won’t get the smooth, flawless result you’re looking for. In this case, you should contact a concrete professional or look to methods like sanding, grinding, or patching once the concrete dries. These methods will ensure the best final result for the lowest cost.

A 500-square-foot driveway can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $35,000, depending on the type of pavers you choose. Grass and concrete pavers are more affordable, while stone and cobblestone pavers are on the higher end of that price range. You’ll save some money by DIYing the installation, though we highly recommend sticking with a professional for this type of driveway installation.

The layer of polymeric sand under the pavers plus the polymeric sand that gets swept into the joints between your pavers holds them in place in a few ways. For one, the gritty texture of the sand helps lock the pavers together. Polymeric sand also contains bonding agents that get activated by water. Polymeric sand will take between 24 and 48 hours to fully cure, so do not walk on your paver walkway before this time.

Driveway pavers are often worth the cost. Paver types like cobblestone, brick, and concrete are highly durable, and permeable paver options can be tremendously eco-friendly. While you may pay more for a paver driveway, you’ll see great returns from the increased curb appeal and low maintenance compared to other types of driveways.

Decomposed granite and caliche can both harden into a solid surface using a plate compactor. However, due to decomposed granite’s fine particles, it’s not suitable for driveway surfaces. Some homeowners use pea gravel mixed with a gravel-binding resin to bind the loose stones and create a solid surface that won’t shift like loose gravel.
