"David and his crew did an awesome job for us. They poured a slab for our 20 x 20 building and a sidewalk! We also had the building wired and they did that for us. We were ð ¯ % satisfied with the work. They were always respectful and very caring about the detail of their work. They will be our go to contractors when needed. Thank you David, Buster and crew!!! "I wanted to install a patio around my existing screened in porch using pavers. Alex responded very quickly to the project request and was able to come to the house within a day or so to review what I wanted and to provide a quote. He was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything in a clear/concise manner as well as making a couple of suggestions for a more cohesive look. Once scheduled, Alex and team showed up on time, worked throughout each day with only a lunch break, and completed the job within 2 days. The finished patio/rock area is well done and beautiful. I would use Silva Landscapes again and highly recommend them for any project!! Thank you Silva Landscapes!!"

"He doesn't just do concrete work. He does so much more. I have worked with many contractors and only had one other good experience with contractors. They finished on time and did what they said. He explained the whats and whys during the process and confirmed I was satisfied with everything. He was amazing."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, tiles are for indoor use, while pavers are for outdoor use. The main difference between travertine tiles and pavers is their thickness. Tiles are around 1/2 inch thick, and pavers are 1 1/4 inches to 2 inches thick.

Pavers are more rugged and can handle different weather. The extra thickness on pavers also makes them ideal for high-traffic areas.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

Think of the street as a way to capture all the elements on either side of the road, including the road—a street encompasses the homes or other buildings, the trees, and the road of a given area as defined by the beginning and end of the street on a map. A roadway, however, is the component of the street where cars travel.

In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.

Yes, hardscaping is generally a great investment that can increase your home's value. Hardscape features improve your yard's functionality, safety, and aesthetics, which boosts curb appeal and overall property value. According to a survey by the National Association of Realtors and the National Association of Landscape Professionals, hardscape upgrades are one of the top four outdoor projects that add value to a property for resale, along with landscape upgrades, landscape management, and lawn care services. While most buyers see value in these features, some may be concerned about potential increases in property taxes or the cost to alter them later. However, the return on investment is typically excellent. For best results, hardscaping should be combined with professional landscaping, and it's wise to hire a reliable contractor for installation.
