"After purchasing the deal, DB Plumbing called to schedule the service. On the first visit, the toilet was fixed to stop the leak. It was determined that the faucets needed parts. I called Moen and the parts were shipped to me. I called to make a return appointment. They were very responsive. Don, the owner, came on 3/1 and installed the new parts fixing the leaking faucets. He did not charge for the return visit. In addition, I asked Don if he could help me locate the main water shutoff for our home. He didn't hesitate to help. He went into the crawl space and was able to determine the approximate location of the shutoff which is located outside the home. Using a probing tool, he located the shutoff and dug into the ground to expose it for me. He suggested a fix that he has performed for other clients to make the shutoff more accessible. I will call Don in the future to provide the suggested fix. All in all, I was very pleased with D. B. Plumbing's performance.

"Tim did a great job with the replacement of our water heater. Even though it was the day after Thanksgiving he moved some of his other appointments around to come to our home that afternoon. Tim and his assistant were careful to put on shoe covers in the house and to observe COVID 19 precautions. The job required more complicated plumbing since we have a desuperheater loop from our geothermal heat pump that connects to the water heater; the additional charge for this work was minimal. Tim was here until after 5:00 that evening, with the result that we had hot water over the weekend."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Sump pump repairs are typically handled by plumbers or waterproofing specialists who are experienced in handling basement and foundation-related issues. Plumbers can address issues like clogs, electrical problems, and mechanical failures, and waterproofing professionals may be ideal if the sump pump is part of a larger drainage or waterproofing system.

Some people may also call on a general handyperson for minor sump pump repairs. However, for complex problems, hiring a certified plumber or waterproofing expert ensures the work is done correctly and prevents further issues.

If your water pump fails, the first step is to turn off the power to the pump to prevent any further damage. Check for common issues such as clogs, electrical problems, or mechanical failures. If you cannot identify the problem, contact a professional who specializes in pump repairs. Prompt action can help minimize damage and repair costs.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

Costs depend on pump type, labor rates, and the extent of repairs or installation needs.

There are a couple of similar alternatives you may consider for a sewage ejector pump, including a grinder pump or a submersible sump pump. Submersible sump pumps protect your home from flooding from outside water, though, rather than handling wastewater from inside. A grinder pump macerates, or shreds, solid waste before pumping it onward to the sewer line.
