Porch Conversion takes pride in the professional and courteous service that it provides customers. We not only use the highest quality products, but have top notch experience as well. We offer more sunroom designs, options, & sizes than anyone else!

"Our experience with Porch Conversion fell far short of our expectations, both in product and customer service. Product-wise, we were not told, during the sales pitch, that the EZ breeze poly-vinyl would not provide a clear view; I knew vinyl would not be as crystal clear as glass, but the disparity is much more substantial than we could have imagined. I would describe it as a wavy distortion. This is the case with the panels with screens behind them and those without screens (upper transom). Secondly, the sliding panels, which are advertised on their website as ‘fingertip easy’ to slide, have not been our experience in the least. A lot of exertion needs to be applied to get the panels to the juncture to lock them up. That over exertion will not bode well for the product’s longevity and our aging muscles. If we were told that both situations were ‘the norm’, we would never have purchased the large panels. We would have considered going with the smaller vertically sliding panels or with glass. The customer service complaint is twofold - 1) the lack of transparency about the vinyl in the sales phase. At that time, I had emphasized to the saleswoman that the clearest view was our top priority. 2) The warranty gentleman was quick in getting back to us when I first reached out about our concern. After his visit, he said that there was no issue with the vinyl, and that he “could not go to bat for us” with the manufacturer. Subsequently, it took days to hear back from him about the sliding panel issue. Finally, we were told once again, that’s the norm with the larger panels; he also did not offer to send a technician out to see if there was any adjustment that could be made to make the panels slide as advertised. That did not seem like an unrealistic ask after doling out a nice chunk of cash for the system. The sad irony, about Porch Conversion’s warranty service, is that this was the deciding factor for us to choose them over another company, who had received frequent bad reviews about their ineffective warranty service. In the pic, you can see the distorted view through the vinyl panels on the left vs. the much clearer view through the screen on the right."

Cole Roofing & Construction is a "master certified" roofing and construction company. We have been in the roofing and construction business since 1973 and have installed over 5000 roofs in Wake, Durham and Orange county. In addition to roofing we also do all types of home repairs, additions, screen porches and gutters. We also install replacement windows. We provide free estimates and written warranty's for all of our work.Financing is available.

"Avoid this business. They have terrible follow-up, customer service, and owners. They are very unprofessional, insulting and condescending. They care only about getting their money. As examples, I asked them what they would do about my gutter guards 5 weeks before they were supposed to replace my roof, and they didn't respond. Then the week they were supposed to do the work they sent a document that said they aren't responsible for removing, reinstalling or replacing gutter guards with the disclaimer of course that they wouldn't be responsible for any damage. Their document also wanted me to inform them of any concerns in writing, before they did their work, I did. One thing I told them is that I have new grass in part of my lawn and also told them that they can access my entire house and yard, without walking on that area. Their response was: If the ground is soft and 10 people walk on it over one day it can get damaged. Their reply also insulted me by twice saying "It is really just common sense..." I told them to stay off of an area and they could get everywhere without walking on it, and rather than say "OK, we will certainly avoid it if we can, thanks for letting us know." they said what I posted above. One of the owners then called me and again was insulting. I reiterated the above, letting him know I was just doing what their document told me, and he said "Yep, that is just common sense" and started just saying "Sensitive people..." as if I was being an idiot. I say: don't walk on this area of my lawn and He says: if people walk on it it will get damages, that's just common sense. And of course he then let me know that they'd be billing me for 10% of the total cost (which I figured, because it is in the signed proposal) and if I didn't, they'd turn me over to collections. I asked why they didn't get back to me about my gutter guards when I asked. He deflected that and said something non-sensical. Avoid them at all costs. I will pay the 10% and sleep better knowing I don't have an uncaring, unprofessional company working on my house. If I could leave a ZERO start review, I would."

General contractor that handles all phases of residential and light commercial remodeling. We are skilled in all aspects of construction, with a complete team of licensed contractors, carpenters, roofers, painters, electricians, plumbers, and designers on staff.

"Remodeling by Erik rescued our downstairs area on our second row beach home on Oak Island when it was hit by hurricane Isaias. The back wall was pushed away from the foundation by 3 feet of water that had been trapped inside. The area was not hurricane compliant so the water could not escape. Plus we had to pay exorbitant insurance due to being FEMA noncompliant. Remodeling by Erik installed FEMA compliant flood vents around the base of the home Which not only look nice but reduced our yearly insurance by almost 2K!. They also built a beautiful slat wall to replace the old solid wall thus creating more open space for water to flow out of and making a closed off, musty room more open and airy. Not to mention the slat wall is beautiful. Our outside shower was demolished by Isaias and they re-built a beautiful new shower. They also replaced our ruined water heater with a new one and had to troubleshoot the electrical that had been compromised. Take a look at our before & after photos! Erik and his team including Mike and Terry, are really nice folks to work with. They are currently renovating and expanding our tiny, outdated bathroom and we are super excited to see the results! We highly recommend them & look forward to working with them on future projects we have!??"

"HORRIBLE CONTRACTORS!!! I have had contractors before and experienced some issues but this Anthony guy is very unprofessional and he is an absolutely nightmare! Not a single item was completed from the contract he and I agreed on and he took 60% of the contract amount and he stopped working the property. I had a property with some cosmetic work stuff and repairs which shouldn’t be that complicated. After he toured the property and gave me estimated time frame for 2 weeks. I know normally how it is not done with contractors so I asked him a few more times and confirmed if he could really finish it in two weeks. He was confident and said two weeks for no problem. After it has been almost 4 weeks, not even a quarter of work has been done and I noticed he didn’t even show up. He has so many excuses and complaints every single time when I contacted him. It felt like he was working for free which was not true. We agreed on 3 installment payments, 1st installment, before the job start about 30% of the total price, and 2nd one, 1/3 of the total price, and the last one at the completion of the job. After 2 weeks of work and not much of work has been done, he already requested for the 2nd installment. I asked him, the work has not been done 2/3 of the job, more over not even half way done. Anyway, he got upset and he wouldn’t continue the job if I didn’t pay. So I paid and then BOOM! He didn’t show up at work and when I asked him, his answer was it is too cold to work at the property. He made excuses and excuses and he said he will only come back if the heater is fixed. I did and texted him and called him. NO RESPONSE. Besides, his quality of work is horrible. He and his crew painted all over, light fixtures, light bulbs, floors, even bathtub. What kind of painter paint over the tub?! They simply didn’t even covered the parts not supposed to paint but they were so lazy and sloppy worker. They installed the brand new room doors, two out of three, didn’t even close properly and didn’t even use the shim. Installing the door is one of the basic carpentry job and he can’t even do that! I asked for the breakdown of the work and cost and no answer. When I confronted him for a few stuff, he just blah blah blah and repeating himself by making endless nonsense and not doing the job at all. Even if he does a job, not a good quality one."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Coffered ceilings often come with additional embellishments and accessories, including tin panels, medallions, trim, molding, recessed lights, and finials. Whether you’re looking for a simple grid pattern or want an elaborate, decorative ceiling with all the bells and whistles, there are plenty of options to choose from.

To convert a ceiling fan to wireless, you’ll need to install a canopy module to access the lighting and fan controls. Many options are available, all of which help you control specific elements of your ceiling fan, so you have plenty of choices depending on your needs.

There’s no reason why you can’t install a ceiling fan anywhere in your home, such as in living rooms, offices, bedrooms, and dining areas. Most bathrooms already have ventilation and don’t need a ceiling fan. For safety purposes, avoid installing a ceiling fan where the blades will be less than eight feet from the floor, near bunk beds, or anywhere else they may hit nearby objects.

No, a ceiling fan doesn’t have to be wired to a switch, but it’s often more convenient. You can use the included pull chain if your ceiling isn’t too high or install a remote module later, as they are a cheap, easy-to-install option that’ll let you control both the fan and light fixture.

If the fan doesn’t have a switch, connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan; connect the green wire to the ground wire; connect both black wires; and connect both blue wires. If yours has a switch, the white and green wires are connected the same way. However, connect the ceiling’s red wire to the light’s black wire and the ceiling’s black wire to the fan’s black wire.
