"Painted on popcorn was removed from my ceiling and kitchen to reveal an insensitive amount of plaster damage to the ceiling. One contractor told me it could not be fixed. I found Clean Hands and they were quick to respond, gave me a quote, and started on the work the next day. The crew was professional and considerate. I would recommend them to anyone who needs plaster work done. It's difficult to find a contractor that will work with plaster, but these guys did an excellent job."

"The guys came on the first day to look over the work to make sure we were all on the same page.  We walked through the project and quote they had provided.  After that, they got to work on the repairs.  It took a little longer than that predicted, but I'm very happy with the results.  It's hard to pick out where the plumbers cut the holes in the drywall to access pipes, excellent work.

"Overall, Haley Hahn Home Solutions provided exceptional service. Great customer service and very professional.
I needed work done on a rental property located in Greensboro NC. I contacted Haley Hahn for an estimate for roof repairs, to install 8 new windows and install a new storm door.  I received a response right away. After researching several contractors, I decided to use Haley Hahn. The issue with the roof was addressed immediately then we scheduled to have the windows installed shortly after. I could not be in the area when any of the work was performed. However, Ron Prince was very patient and professional in addressing all of my many questions and concerns over the phone and via email. The work was performed as scheduled and completed sooner than expected. My only regret is that I did not use Haley Hahn Home Solutions to install my storm door. I went with a cheaper contractor and I'm still waiting for them to fix a couple of problems with the door they installed."

"Owner came out in November to review work that needed to be done and gave informal/verbal estimate to one of the homeowners.  Due to weather-related issues, initial Dec 3 project date was rescheduled; that date also being interrupted by winter weather. Third rescheduling was overlooked by Mighty Hands AND homeowner. Second contact by homeowner resulted in newly scheduled date. Two very polite contractors came out as scheduled, but did not know what they were supposed to do and how much had been quoted (i.e., no work order in hand to direct them, and the homeowner present on that date had not done the November walk-around with Mighty Hands). They started job, and finished completely on third trip to house (still did not have all materials needed on second day, stating they did not know exactly what was needed until meeting with homeowner who actually met Mighty Hands owner in November). Our belief is that it should have been less than a day's work and much better coordinated between business owner and workers. We would have liked to have had a written estimate and copy of the work order after first meeting, and this should have been available to the on-site workers. Everyone was pleasant, and the end result looks nice, but the process was not desirable.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, a 2x6 should hold a porch swing and safely support the load. A smaller joist runs the risk of it not offering enough support for the swing. If you have a joist smaller than 2x6, add additional bolstering support.

While framing a basement is not as difficult as finishing a basement, it's something you should typically leave to the pros. That’s because if something is installed correctly, it will affect your entire basement. However, you can take care of some of the smaller tasks, like filling holes or putting up some insulation.

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

Most Cape Cod houses are two stories tall at the peak, although they’re considered one-and-a-half stories tall because the steep roof pitch cuts off a portion of the living space on the second story. Unless you raise the roof on your Cape Cod house to add a dormer, the interior rooms upstairs will lose some usable living space to the sloped ceilings.
